Recap: "DID SOMEONE SAY SLEEPOVER"?
************************************
Janet's POV
I was shaken out of my shocked state when the one and only Cody Rhodes enter my house. Two large sodas were in his hands as he flashed his blue eyes at me. " Sup Jane" he winked going towards the kitchen.
I was even more shocked to see Erin come in with two large pizza boxes. "Great now we can officially get this party started"! Amy squealed clapping her hands. They all were in the kitchen talking loudly as if they owned the place.
I stomped my way into the kitchen. "Wait I didn't agree to any of this. You guys need to leave". I said trying to appear confident but I was slowly dying inside from embarrassment. All eyes were on me until Amy shoved a slice of pizza in my hands.
"It's too late to back out now! You didn't want to come to the party so I brought the party to you"! She beamed with pride as if she had won the jackpot. There was no way I was getting out of this so instead with heavy footsteps I went to grab some plates.
I just had to endure this for a few hours and then kick them out. I opened up a kitchen cabinet grabbing three plates. Carefully holding them in my hands I turn around and all but crash into Erin. " Thought you could use some help," he said smiling sheepishly.
Without a word, he grabbed the plates from my hands. Our fingers brushed each other ever so gently. I gulped before going to grab some cups. Lately, things had been weird, to say the least between me and Erin. He was dead set on becoming friends again which wasn't what I wanted.
I had no desire of being friends with him. Especially with our past and such, it was all too much to handle. I exit the kitchen to place the cups down on the table. Cody was already scuffing down a slice of pizza while talking with Amy.
I nervously sat down when a plate with a slice of pizza was put in front of me. My eyes immediately sought Erin's but he was busy getting a slice for himself. "Sooo Janie tell me are there any guys your interested in"? Amy asked her eyes sparkling with interest.
I nibbled away on my pizza carefully thinking about how to answer. "I uh no I dont have time for things like that" I muttered hoping she wouldn't pry further.
"You're not fooling me! Come on there has to be someone you like" she giggled swatting Cody hands off her. I felt Erin's intense gaze on me as if he were peering into my soul. His muscular and tall build looked humongous in the small dining chair.
He ticked his jaw with annoyance. "Enough Amy stop being nosy" he grumbled taking a sip of his coke. His pink lips wrapped around the cup as he guzzled down his fill of the fizzy drink. He noticed me watching and smirked devilishly as my cheeks grew hot. He was mysterious than before I had always thought of him to be cool and collected.
At least that what was I thought. But now he had this dark aura that surrounded him. It was constantly there never drifting away and I felt it tried to lure me in. I gulped deeply before taking a swig of my drink.
I needed to stay away. Needing fresh air I excused myself before walking out on the front porch. The crispy cold air hit my face and it felt so refreshing and free. I sat on the small steps listening to the gentle night silently. I shut my eyes for a bit humming silently to myself. Soon this place was only going to be a memory for me.
I had spent many years with Ms. Freckles which was only supposed to be a temporary place. But she agreed to let me stay until I was finally old enough and even then she had promised me I could stay as long as I wanted. She has been good to me, a little too good for me and a part of me felt guilty.
I had a good amount of savings and after I graduated I wouldn't look back. I knew exactly where I wanted to go and nothing and no one would be able to stop me. I felt a presence slide in next to me on the porch steps. I wasn't surprised to see Erin placing his elbows on his knees.
"Why are you following me"? I snapped folding my arms. I felt goosebumps against my arms as a slight chill rippled through my body.
I watched him from the corner of my eye. He ran a hand through his tousled dark hair. " Maybe I like going after something" he muttered smirking.
Confused by what he meant I rolled my eyes watching cars go by. "At some point, Janet you can't run away forever. Your gonna have to face those demons that keep haunting you". My neck all but cracked as I stared at him with accusing eyes.
" You dont know shit, Erin. And sooner or later you are going to have to accept the fact that I want nothing to do with you. I'm not interested in being friends at all" I sneered. I was about to leave when he stopped me by placing a hand on my arm.
"Stay. I'll go. No matter what you say I'm not giving up. I'd never give up on you Jane" he whispered before getting up and leaving me deep in my dark thoughts.
