POV—Hebinoya Ikari

Guilty

Don't let me go.

I can barely believe what had just taken place.

Win with half his power?

Seriously?

I've never heard of a more ludicrous thing.

Tch, that stupid pretty boy.

Don't let me go.

It takes me thirty-two minutes to calm down.

Thirty-two minutes to replay my fight with Todoroki, and thirty-two minutes look back on all the things I did. As I stand on the train headed for home, my shoulder aching, two voices begin to argue in my head. One part of me snipes,

Win with half your strength?

Ugh.

He's being foolish...

...but don't you think you we're little harsh?

I grimace, pushing that voice deep down. Even though I try hard to block it out, it still manages to say,

Why'd you have to say that to him?

That is all it takes for guilt to consume me, and in a wave my mind tells me that I should text him, call him— anything to say that I'm sorry. I take out my phone and the cursor blinks in front of me, filled with white. My fingers tremble over the screen.

Come on. Do it.

My thumbs hover over my phone. I pause, chewing my lips, wondering what to say.

Sorry.

No, no. That won't do it.

How the hell am I supposed to apologize? I don't know how— I've never apologized sincerely before. And anyways, he probably already hates me. Apologizing won't do anything now. I'll be alone forever, no matter what I do.

Just like Father said.

A spike of anger comes rushing through me again and with an angry huff, I shove my phone back into my bag. He doesn't need me, and I don't need him. He's chosen what he wants, and he will have to pay for it.

I'll beat him in the Sports Festival.

I force myself to believe it. I tell myself it's true.

I'm angry at him.
