POV—Hebinoya Ikari

Tournament: Pt 2

Don't let me go.

It's like I'm an imposter.

For others, they are convincing heroes

that they are good enough to become one.

I'm convincing them that

I'm good enough to be anything at all.

Don't let me go.

"Everybody, sorry for the long wait! The stage that was frozen in the second match is finally dry, so onto the next match!"

I don't find many of the other matches quite interesting. Shiozaki and Kaminari are next, and the match is over in under a minute as the moron tries to shock Shiozaki by using all of his power up at once. That turns out to be a bad decision as he is rendered useless just when Shiozaki's vines throw him out of bounds.

The next match is Iida against Hatsume, the girl that Midoriya paired with in the cavalry battle, and it turns boring as soon as Hatsume turns the match into an advertisement show for her machines.

"How humiliating." I say. In the end Hatsume steps out of bounds, which guarantees Iida's spot in the second round.

Aoyama and Ashido only butt heads for a few minutes before Ashido finishes with a nice uppercut.

When their match ends, I hurry myself through the stadium's corridors. Mine will begin soon. While I walk, I calm myself down, tracing hearts onto my hand and focusing on my. I run through my strategy a few more times to make sure it's foolproof, reciting all the tactics I had researched in my head.

When I reach the tunnel, I stretch briefly and warm up my Quirk, letting the nervousness flow as naturally as my blood.

This is it.

A slight pressure presses at my chest, and from somewhere in my head Father begins to whisper.

Aw, look at you.

Are you basking in the thought that if you make any mistake, you'll be permanently cast out by society?

What a pitiable little thing.

"...it's Tokoyami Fumikage— versus— the one and only Hebinoya Ikari!"

I step out into the light, into the thousands of biased eyes all waiting to determine my fate. My throat begins to close up, Father's words resounding in my head. Cheers and shouts erupt through the stadium.
