Don't let me go.
I grumble as I step out of the office, my new prescription clutched in my hands. I let out a small breathe. It turned out better than I expected. The doctor said I was in some state of depression, but I've been getting better.
I walk down the countless, clean pristine hallways. Psychologists and assistants rush through each room, and as I pass down each hallway I begin to relax.
As I pass one door, a name plaque on its door, my eye widen.
Todoroki?
I look back at the sign once more to see if I had looked at it properly, and sure enough, it says Todoroki. It is Todoroki Rei, a name I had never heard of before. Which family member of Shoto's is contained in a psychiatric ward? I already make a note in my mind that I should go ask Shoto later about it, and just when I turn the door opens and out comes Shoto with his eyes shining bright as always.
"Shoto?" I say, jumping up slightly. My spirits lifts when I see him.
"Ikari?" Shoto says, much less surprised than me but nonetheless shocked. His eyes are wide with confusion as he stares at me, saying, "What are you doing here?"
"I had a psychological evaluation. Turns out I have depression, but the doctor said it's getting better."
"But you're alright?" Concern glints behind his eyes. A flash of him clutching at my hand short-circuits in my mind. "Did your doctor say anything for prescriptions?"
I nod. "Yeah. I'm going to have to take it twice a day from now on, which is a pain—"
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you take them." He says. He doesn't meet my eyes when he says this, but I can feel concern growing in his eyes.
"So? Who are you here for?" I ask him.
"My mom."
From inside, I hear a light, melodic voice say,
"Shoto, dear? Who's at the door?"
I didn't know that his mom was in a ward. He didn't even mention his mom. I poke my head into the room to find a woman with stark-white hair and grey eyes staring back at me. I try my attempt at a smile and I say,
"Hello, Mrs. Todoroki. I'm Shoto's friend."
"Oh, nice to meet you!" She says. Everything about her seems so kind and warm. Even her eyes seem welcoming. "Come in, come in. I've never met one of Shoto's friends before."
"I was just about to get a green tea from the vending machine." Shoto says. "I can get one for you, too."
My heart jumps at his thoughtfulness. I nod and say a short thanks, and I step into the room. It is similar to the room I had woken up in after the villain attack: white, clean-cut, and plain. Asides from a few pieces of furniture, a few pictures, and a bed, the room feels cold and unwelcome. That is all contradicted by Mrs. Todoroki's warm smile.
