Obstacle Course

Don't let me go.

Todoroki has the motivation.

Bakugou has the power.

Midoriya has the smarts.

And me?

I'll leave that to you to figure out.

Don't let me go.

"Our school's selling point is freedom! As long as you stay on the course, it doesn't matter what you do!" Midnight twirls the microphone around like a baton, smiling mischievously. I recognize the intimidating air behind her last few words, and I register its importance. Dirty tricks are accepted, and anyone is allowed to use their Quirk in any way to get to their goal. It's all part of the process.

With that message in mind, we are led to the starting point, marked by a red gate decorated with three glowing lights on the top. Many of the students are piled towards the front, shoving to get a good place, but I don't care much about being first. What's important is who can rise above the rest.

As the countdown begins from three, I take a deep breath in. I dig my feet deep into the ground.

I will become the best. The top.

No one will ever say I'm a villain ever again.

"Start!"

In a flash, I hoist myself up onto the gate, advancing towards the top, where I flip off and cushion my jump off a wall. I spring off that in a heartbeat and onto the opposite side as I try to control my Quirk, regulating its airflow so that my landings won't hurt me too much. I gather more and more momentum as I flow through the air, leaping like a gazelle, especially careful of where I step. Cries of confusion rattles the air, but I barely hear them as I plan out my path.

The more I jump, the narrower the passage. As I glance down, many of the students try to push past each other, but they are jumbled back into a ball. Soon enough, shouts of complaint join the thundering footsteps. In the back of my mind, I thank myself for choosing this method. If I was down there, my claustrophobia would have kicked in. Above the other candidates' heads, I am having a wonderful time.

As I jump to another wall, a cloud of ice creeps through the tangled bodies. The air becomes frosty and my breath mists up. My stomach drops. Panicked cries of help echo through the passageway. When I glimpse down, the majority of the candidates' feet are frozen to the ground.
