Deciding to hide away her emotions, like she had been doing for most of her life, Lyra smirked and shook her head.
She didn't care anyway at this point. This is the fate that half of the secret agents face, and now it was her turn.
Jungkook was secretly stealing moments to look at her. To observe how miserable she looked. Her hair in a mess, arms bruised, her skin pale as paper and her eyes emotionless, as if he was staring at a dead person.
How could she ever do this to him? After all those words she said, did she really never feel a thing?
Maybe he was the one to blame, he let himself fall so easily into this trap. He forgot who he was, he forgot that his life could never be what he wanted it to be. His life had been cursed since the day he was born. He wasn't meant to love or be loved. He let her in, too easily.
But never again.
"What? Sho- Shoot me a- already. Of- Of course you'll ta- take th- the ea- easy way. With m- my hands b- bound, I can't e- even d- defend my- myself so go ahead al- already." Lyra spat while sarcastically laughing, her words stinging him like an a stingray.
She looks at him with forced hate, trying to read his actions. The gun drops from his hand infront of her.
"You asked for this, remember that." Jungkook's cold voice echoed as he moved behind her and took out a second gun and a key. Freeing her hands, he kicked off the shackles.
"You want this to be done this way, let's do it. Let's see who kills whom." Jungkook smugly smiled, knowing the fact that he was one of the best shooters in the underworld.
Holding her hand, he pulled her up to make her face him.
Never had I thought, my last memory of her would be hateful and resentful. I really did want to live long and live happy with you. And yet, you walked all over my heart.
While his heart cried, yearned and begged for her love, Jungkook ignored it. This was the end, taking a look at her face this close to him one last time, he clenched his jaw.
She had the gun in her hand already.
"Let g- go of my- my h- hand." She muttered through gritted teeth and not being able to control his anger, he unconsciously pushes her away towards the wall.
Somehow balancing herself with her hands on the wall, she slides down. Her legs weren't working, she was still shivering and the lack of strength was visible. Wrapping her hands around herself in an attempt to warm herself for a little while, she glares at Jungkook.
"What? Too weak to even stand up?" Jungkook lets out a hateful laugh.
Inside, both their souls were crying and wailing. They were both hurting each other, without even knowing it. It seemed like some match to show which one of them was more strong and both of them were horrible in this game. The hate they painted over their faces was just a mask, hiding their shattered will.
Somewhere both of them knew, their profession and where they came from would interfere with their lives and it will never let them open up or love someone as much as they wanted to.
It's hard to say goodbye but they have to let go. They needed to. This was the end to the secret love that was still blooming.
Letting out a shaky breath, she put her hands on the cold wall once again, with every tiny bit of strength she had left, she stood up, with one shoulder on the wall to support her. Taking the aim, they were now standing facing each other with guns.
Ready to take each other's lives.
Fingers ready to pull the triggers, they looked at each other for a brief moment and they were ready.
I am ready to let go-
"WAIT- NO ONE SHOOT-"
The sudden burst through the door was only noticed by one, Lyra. The sound of Jungkook's bullet leaving the gun completely concealed it for him.
It was too late.
Pushing herself at instinct, she shifted to put her back against the wall to potentially dodge the bullet.
She didn't get shot, by the bullet did touch her upper arm, near the shoulder. The slight contact was enough to open up a wound on the pale skin.
"Hae- Lyra!" Jin shrieked, not even caring that he almost screamed out her real name and ran to her.
She had slided down to the floor and was clutching her upper tarm to stop the bleeding.
"Lyra! Oh Lyra-" Jin immediately hugged her cold, fragile body with a sob. It was like he was alive again.
"Jin-"
Pulling away he looks at her face.
She looked so lifeless.
Supporting her back, he quickly takes off my suit jacket and puts it around her.
"H- How di- did you g- get here-"
"We were all lied to." Jin says, and looks up at Jungkook who seemed as confused as Lyra, just angrier. He could see Namjoon's hand holding onto Jungkook's wrist.
"Jungkook hear him out." Namjoon said, with a tensed voice.
"We were all part of a game. A game, Minjoon started."
Frowning at Jin with confusion, both Jungkook and Lyra were lost.
What was he talking about?
Little did they know that what was to come, would flip their world upside down once again.
Jin's expression scared them, about what knowledge he held. Something so intense that the rest of the members of Jungkook's gang brought him to the room themselves.
They supported him, what was this news? That compelled them to believe him. Believe their enemy, believe someone they thought had betrayed them. Someone who they deemed dangerous, and most of all,
Someone they wanted to kill.
