Y/n's pov.  

I hit the flint and steel in the fire place and it didn't lit, I roll my eyes in annoyance and keep trying while I'm on one knee.

" Harder " I turn to my right at Mariko lying on the bed, looking at me.

I hit it again and instead the rock hit my nail.

" Ow! " I drop the flint and steel then look at my nail to see it's fine.

Mariko chortle.

" Laugh all you want " I said and sit down on the floor with my legs crossed.

" Sorry " she gets up.

" That's just sad " she chuckles while walking over to me, she picks up the flint and steel then lit the fire place instantly.

" Not the first time that happened " I said.

She sit down next to me as she place the flint and still on the floor board.

" Well, takes a few tries to get it right " she rub her hands together then blow her hot breath into it, she extends her hand near the fire.

I grab the fire poker and move the firewood around.

" I'm still learning, all my life is just by magic, I'm not used to doing things manually " I said.

" Then what made you? " She asked.

" Him " I turn to my left outside the window where I see him having a conversation with the owner of the rent house.

" I don't know, we both practically change for each other " I smile as his eyes are glistening from the torch he's holding.

He then nodded and walk away.

" You'll loose him one day " she said, I furrow my eyebrows and turn to her.

" What do you mean by that? " I said in a tone that just irritated me.

" Falling in love way too hard then loosing the love of your life after, that's the most painful thing to feel in the world, don't let that get in the way, you'll kill yourself eventually " she gets up from the floor and walk over to her bed.

The door opens and I turn around to see Katelyn entering with Lucinda.

" The boys are out at the tavern " Katelyn yawns and just plop down on her bed already snoring.

" I'mma warm up " Lucinda sit down next to me.

" What were you two talking about? " Lucinda gesture to Mariko who's back is facing us as she lie down on her bed.

" Just some stuff to get to know each other " I said.

She hiss and shivers, I grab my satchel in the corner and pull it near, I open it then take out the jar of soul sand.

" Soul sand? " She asked.

" Yep " I open the lid and take some in my hand, I toss it in the fire and it turned blue.

" Whoa " she said in amaze.

" Warm enough? " I asked, she nodded and I close the jar.

" I'm gonna head to bed " I stood up and approach my bed.

Placing my satchel on the floor against the wall, I lie down on my bed and pull the blanket over my body, facing the ceiling, I take a deep breath and exhale as I close my eyes.

" It's not that cold anymore, the storm has passed " I said as I look outside the window.
