Everyone had split up as soon as Diego gave the cue. Luther and Allison ran out the back, Klaus scurried over the rubble into what was once an alleyway, and Five grasped Y/N's hand as he blinked the both of them away from what was left of the academy.

In a flash of blue, they appeared at the entrance of a busy bowling alley, the bright colors and fluorescent lights boring into their eyes. Y/N groaned, feeling the usual nausea of spatial jumping as she put a hand over her forehead.

Five, who was unphased, pulled her hand along as he opened the doors to the Super Star bowling alley and entered. The setup made him grimace, along with the thick air of sugary cotton candy and fruity sodas. The atmosphere of the area didn't much suit his personality, to say the least.

"Diego chose this dump for refuge?" Five spat, making a gesture with his hands to make his point.

He absentmindedly brought Y/N's hand up with his as he mocked Diego's choice, and the girl gave him an exasperated smile as she squeezed his hand, reminding Five that he was still holding it. They both looked down at their interlocked hands in unison before awkwardly pulling away, peering around the lanes sheepishly.

"It's not too shabby," Y/N piped up, cutting through the uncomfortable silence. "We can wait in the back while everyone else gets here."

The girl marched forward, going up to the front desk to request a pair of bowling shoes that was her size. Five followed, letting out a deep sigh as he stood behind her with his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"I'm a size nine," he remarked dryly, glaring at the man as he rudely slammed the shoes on the counter. "Yeah, fuck you too."

"Five," Y/N pressed, sending the boy next to her a scowl. She shook her head, grabbing both of their shoes quickly as she muttered a brief apology and grasped Five's arm, pulling him away before he caused any more trouble. "We don't have time for this."

"For bowling? Agreed."

Y/N rolled her eyes, deciding not to say anything as she tied her laces and plopped onto the couch. Five did the same thing, but his expression mirrored one of immense distaste as he glowered down at the flashy bowling shoes.

"Whatever. We need a plan," Y/N said, setting up the screen for their alley as she talked. "Vanya is powerful. Everyone needs to pitch in."

Five listened, taking a bowling ball from the rack and fitting his slim fingers into the holes, before swinging back and rolling it over the lane into the white pins ahead. The ten pins were knocked over with a loud clank, automatically giving him ten points for the clean strike.

"We have to find her first," he replied, amused by Y/N's shocked expression. "Any clue where she might be?"

Y/N slowly shook her head, tearing her gaze away from the fallen pins. "It's not like she left me a note on the fridge," she said sarcastically. "We'll have to question everyone else when they get here."

Five turned his head towards the entrance, his lips setting into a straight line as he watched the said people waltz into the building, looking tired and disheveled after the trek across town. "Speaking of everyone else..."

Diego was first, his paranoid self quickly scanning the surroundings of laughing teens and miserable workers before he got his own shoes and locked eyes with Five and Y/N. It followed in a certain order as next was Klaus, and then Luther and Allison.

Eventually, the entire family sat over the bright red couches in a circle, their seriousness a great contrast to the childishness of the bowling alley.

"Look, I hate to be the one to say this, but everyone needs to prepare," Luther started, his arm resting over the back of the couch.
