Chapter 9: House hunting?

Today I woke up confused, I tried to put it all together but it just made no sense at all. I shouldn't be thinking about it since she said he missed her, but I saw him cut her with the bottle how could he miss her? With all the people dying and disappearing in the past few days. Hope found out she's a witch, let's not metion Jade's friend or family whatever she is to her trying to kiss me last night. What is happening? Am I missing something?

"Jo" Lizzie shouts from the other side of the door.

"Yeahh"

"Dad wants us downstairs"

"Okay be there in a minute"

I made my way downstairs, It seemed like dad wanted to tell us something because he never calls us in the dining room at this time. I looked at both of them with a confused face as I sat down.

"Girls" he said with a deep voice

Me and Lizzie look at eachother trying to figure out what he's about to tell us.

"I'm leaving town for a few days"

"Why?" I asked

"I have to sort something out, when I'll come home I'll explain everything."

We just stared at him.

"When are you leaving?" Lizzie asked.

"In few minutes"

"What about the founding party" Lizzie asked

"I'll be back by then" He let out a little chuckle. And made his way to the door "I'll see you girls in few days"

*door closed*

"Did he just leave? Like for real?"

"You heard him, he won't be long" I said

"You know what that means right?" Lizzie gave me a creepy smile.

"Uhm" trying to figure what she meant "no! Lizzie. You're not throwing a party!"

"Yes! Lizzie is throwing a party!" Lizzie smiled

"Dad is gonna be mad"

"Dad? I don't see dad anywhere. Where is he?" She said in sarcasm.

She always finds a way to make me smile.
"Can we atleast keep it small?"

"We'll see. Now get ready for school"

We got ready for school and made out way there.

Lizzie invited the whole school! Everyone she saw in school. "Hey, there's a party tonight. My house"

Lizzie was a popular girl at school, the cheerleading captain. Obviously she would invite everyone and with no doubt everyone would come.

"A party?" Maya laughed in Lizzies face.

"Which you're not invited to" Lizzie said proudly.

Maya rolled her eyes and left.

"Did you see her face" Lizzie laughed

"Yes. I did Lizzie"

Maya is Lizzie's sworn enemy since the first year at high school. They hate eachother I don't even know why and if Maya would find out that Lizzie was the one who took her necklace it would be war.

I didn't see Jade the whole day, she didn't show up at school or texted me. So after school I decided to visit her.

"Make sure to come home before the party, I'll need some help" lizzie said

"Sure" I said as I walked away to see Jade.

Honestly at first I couldn't figure out what house it was but then I remebered Jade saying it was near the Salvatore mansion. I walked towards the house, you could see the Salvatore mansion from here. It looked old....well no wonder no one lived there since Damon Salvatore left town.

I knocked but no one answered until I realised the door was open. I slowly walked in "Jade"

It was like a copy from the The salvatore mansion but smaller. I looked around but couldn't see Jade anywhere. Until I heard the door close, turned around to see Penelope standing straight in front of me.

"Josie" she said with a charming smile.

"Uhm, sorry I didn't mean to barge in like that. The door was...." I turned around to see the door being closed "open"

"No worries, what brings you here?" She asked

"I was actually coming to see Jade, she didn't show up today"

"Oh, she'll be here in a bit"

"So... I didn't know you live in the same house"

"As I told you we're family" she said while walking around the living room.

"Is she... your sister?" I asked

"Oh god no, we're family by.....heart" She smirked

I could see that she struggled to say the last word, Honestly what is wrong with this girl?
"I see"

"Can I offer you something to drink?" She said walking towards a small cabinet full of alcohol.

"Uhm, I don't drink" I smiled

"Your bad" she said as she poured herself a drink.

"Care to join me for a drink Jade?"

I turned around to see Jade behind us.

"What are you doing here Josie?" She asked in a serious tone.

"I thought I would stop by since you didn't show up today"

She just stared at me.

"I-I should get going" I said walking towards the door. Jade just stood there staring at Penelope.

I walked out of the house heading straight home.

Shit! I forgot to tell her about the party. I'll just text her then.

Jade's POV:

"Nice job you did there with the necklace" Penelope said while drinking.

"I knew you would try to get in her head"

"You know me too well then" she smirked.

I just stared at her with anger.

"Oh, don't look at me like you just saw a ghost"

"What did you say to her?" I asked

"Nothing serious...." She quickly changed the topic."....did you notice the big old mansion nearby"

"Yeah and?"

"We should check it out, what do you say? Just like old times" she smirked

She really does smirk alot doesn't she I thought to myself.

I laughed "There's no way I'm going house hunting with you"

"House hunting?" She laughed "Nevermind I'll check it out myself" she said in serious voice and walked out of the house.

Why would she want to check out the old mansion out all of a sudden? She must be looking for something.

*Phone vibrates*

I grabbed my phone from my pocket to find a text from Josie "Lizzie's throwing a party, I'd love if you'd come :)"

We can worry about Penelope tommorow.
