Sharav Ahuja

The next day, even though I didn't sleep well, I woke up with happiness radiating from my body. Maybe because of the time I spent with her yesterday. She's like a ticking bomb with craziness. Laughing at my comparison, I went to get myself ready for the day. After stepping out of my home, I thought of texting her or maybe a call? It's better to text I guess, 'cause if I call, I seriously don't know what to speak? If it's a text I can give some excuse by taking some time.

So choosing the second option, I unlocked my phone to text her. But what will I text her? I facepalmed myself. Why it is so difficult to text a girl? I wonder how Viren managed to text Akruti at first. Guess, he must have died a hundred times before pressing the send button. I groan loudly.

"Mr. Ahuja are you okay?", I heard Rick ask me. Way to get embarrassed.

"I'm fine Rick. But why do ask so?", I inquired him, because I hope he didn't see my inner battling and of course the groaning.

"Um... nothing Mr. Ahuja, I saw you standing there for more than ten minutes, so I thought something is wrong", he replied. Thank goodness, he saw nothing else. But wait— what? I'm standing here for ten minutes?

"What I'm standing here for ten minutes?", I asked him to which he nodded his head. Damn, what is that girl doing to me? She's making me look like a comedian, in front of my employee.

"Damn you choco", I cursed silently. "Mr. Ahuja shall we get going?", I heard Rick ask me, I just nodded my head. Settling myself in the car, I unlocked my phone again. Should I text her?

Be a man and text her you fool! my devil screamed at me.

Yeah! You should, my heart also reasoned with me. Exhaling, I started typing. I seriously don't know what to type.

Hey, I'm sorry for texting you late. I was so tired that I crashed into the bed right after reaching home. Hope you're not mad at me.
— Sharav.

Liar, liar pants on fire, my devil and heart singsonged. I groaned internally.

Good morning to you too Mr. Ahuja. And it's not a problem, I hope you had good sleep.
— Navya

Sleep! I didn't have a wink of sleep because of you, woman! I wanted to scream but refrained from doing so. Being the good one I was, I texted a different one.

Yeah! I had. What about you?
Sharav.

Yeah! I had. Okay, I have to go mom's calling. Bye.
—Navya

Came the reply. I sighed looking at the phone. Nothing is actually, helping me right now. All I want to do is go see her. Talk to her, hear her voice. Then, she does have some work to do right? And I can't just barge into someone's home.

"Mr. Sharav we've reached", Rick's voice brought me from my thoughts. Nodding at him, I left to do some work, maybe?

Still, my mom was behaving oddly with me. I love both of them, and I can't—just let them go off. After receiving a message from Sharav, I felt like I got some kind of energy— an energy to face my mom. Sighing at her stubborn form, I hugged her from the back. "Still, mad at me?", I mumbled. She just pushed off my arms and started doing her morning chores.

"Mom, please don't be mad at me. You know right, it hurts me to see you acting strange towards me?", I said to her, but the stubborn lady she was didn't pay any heed to my words. "Mom, you can't just dodge this topic".

"Leave him. I don't want you to be near him anymore", she told me strictly. My eyes misted on hearing this. She's asking me to leave him? When there's no fault of his? Isn't she the one who taught me never to judge people on their background?

"Give me one good reason, why I should leave him?", I asked her in a stern tone. It seems that she was on already edge, guess I pushed her more. She put down the utensils with such a force that my dad and sister, came rushing to the kitchen area.

"What happened?", I heard them ask. But we both mother-daughter were just glaring at each other. Ruhi stood beside me whilst my dad, near my mom.

"Ask her to leave that boy Ajay. He's not good for her. In fact, he's not good for any of us!", my mom yelled at my father, whilst tears have started flowing from my eyes. How can she say that?

"How can you say that? Weren't you the one who told me not to judge people without knowing them properly, then why aren't you doing the same", I asked her. If not for my sister's hold on me, I would have crashed down on the floor.

"Then I guess, who would have forgotten what his family did to you?", she retorted back. I trembled on hearing her words. Sometimes my mom's words could be so sharp that it could hurt you. She's a woman with values with straightforwardness. No buttering and all, even if you're her daughter.

Wiping the tears forcefully, I looked straight into my mom's eyes. "No, mom. I didn't forget what the Ahujas did to me and I can never forget that in my life. If weren't for you two, I don't know where I would have currently been. Or let me say, who might be assaulting me." I cringed at my words.

"What's the role of a ten-year-old boy in this mom? I guess he would have been unaware of this. Even his sister was an ill-treated mom, that's what the news channels portrayed right? Then how could you think that Sharav has something to do with this?", I was breathing heavily.

"So you mean to say, whatever that family did to you, you're asking us to forget about that? You know what you're asking me to forget, the sleepless nights my daughter spent, the nightmares which haunted her, the screams of her when she meets any new people? To forget that my daughter took pills to sleep peacefully? You're asking me to forget what my daughter has gone through?", she answered me back with tears trickling down.

"I stopped taking my meds for my nightmare from the last four years mom", I answered, where her eyes held questioning gaze.

"Asking me how? Then let me tell you something, the one which— sorry the one who cured me. It was Sharav who cured me, mom. From the first time I met him in Paris, he's the one who's been constantly in my mind. Because of him, I stopped getting nightmares mom."

All the three of them were shocked on hearing this, even my dad 'cause I didn't say this to him. "Without his knowledge, he's been the cure for my hurt which his family caused me, mom. And do you know how much guilt he's in? He left his family behind and staying here because he doesn't want his friend's family to get hurt whenever they see him. He doesn't want anyone to get hurt because of him, mom. That's Sharav for everyone. That's Sharav for me. And this time I want to be the cure to his wounds."

My dad tried to interrupt, but I stopped him by nodding my head at him. Sighing he stood near my mom. She was about to open her mouth to speak when I cut her off rudely.

"I'm not finished yet. The only thing Sharav yearns for is for love mom. A love of dad, the love and care of a mother! Love is what he's missing mom. He didn't have a good family either parents. I wanted to give him all the love he wants. Pour my love for him, till he's happy. With genuine happiness."

I paused for a second, "You know mom, I spent an entire day with him yesterday, and yes I've stalked him too, from which I can say that he's not his parents, which he can never be."

Saying this, I stormed out of the kitchen, but I again went back to thank her for what she did to me. "I've to thank you both mom and dad, if it weren't you guys, I would have continued to be the same Niyati Chabra living somewhere else now".

Taking my car out, I heard my dad's and Ruhi's voice from behind. But I don't want to be there for now. So, I started driving to nowhere. I wiped the tears which were trickling down.

"Why can't I have a normal life, like others?"
