The bell of the small quaint cafe echoed around the inside of the building.

"Welcome to Everfall Cafe." the young redhead behind the counter chirped and he shot her a smile before scanning the interior of the small business. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding in when his eyes met Alissa's form seated in the back while quietly arguing with someone through the phone. His stride was quick as he made his way towards her and she quickly ended the call once her eyes met his.

"I'll call you back later Eddie." He took a seat in front of her and just took a second to take in her appearance. Her medium length hair was curled and reached her shoulders while her face had minimum makeup and still looked as flawless as ever. Overall she was a beautiful woman and he's thankful for the woman God allowed to walk into his life. At first he was totally infatuated with her and in love. Now he just didn't feel the spark that used to be a roaring flame. Now he just kept her around for the fans and to convince himself that she's the one he needs in his life. At one point he had himself completely convinced but now he wasn't too sure with this random woman who waltzed into his life as if they were the married ones. The thought wasn't completely repulsive and he felt himself slipping further and further away from Alissa with each thought of Evelyn. He finally built up the courage to tell Alissa, who had been trying to gather his attention for a solid three minutes.

"It's Hannah." he blurted out and Alissa completely cut off her own sentence.

"Excuse me." she said, half offended and half confused.

"The new song. It's about Hannah and the feelings I harbor for her even after we've gotten divorced." He ran a hand through his jaw length brown hair and she narrowed her eyes.

"What feelings Oliver?" His eyes widened in alarm as he realized how wrong his wording had sounded out loud.

"No Alissa, it's not like that. I'm talking about hurt feelings. The anger and sadness I felt when I first found out about her affairs." he cleared up. He had to choke out the word 'affairs' as naturally as possible, feeling guilty about his own affair with someone other than his wife.

"And let's keep it that way Oliver." she said sternly and he nodded. Her stern features melted away and the loving look in her eyes made him feel even worse about himself. He had to will himself to kiss his own wife, the woman he married out of love, and now any interaction with her felt like digging a hot blade into his own skin. The feeling was searing and gut wrenching. She pulled away and he threw on a fake smile as her half lidded love filled eyes stared at him from across the table.

"I'll see you later when I get home." The suggestive smirk she threw on at the end made him shiver. He didn't want sex, not tonight at least, and he began forming excuses to get out of going home.

"Actually." he started and she turned to look at him from where she was getting up.

"I was planning on staying at the studio tonight to finish the song." he said carefully and the scowl she gave him made him seem like a child getting scolded by his mother.

"Don't give me that look, Alissa. I told you my music will always be my top priority before we even got married." he defended and she sighed, turning to leave again.

"Whatever, Oliver. Good luck with your new song." she called out over her shoulder, frustration evident in her tone. He sighed and sat back in the wooden chair before deciding to actually enjoy the company of the small cafe. The girl behind the counter looked up from some book she was reading once his shadow casted over the printed words.

"What can I get you?" she asked politely and his eyes scanned the overhead menu.

"Dark roast coffee." he answered with a visible exhale. She nodded and got to work with making his coffee. She handed him the drink and he quickly paid before walking out and towards the one person who knew everything.
