He opened the apartment door and waltzed in. She had sent him a text ten minutes prior to tell him that the apartment would be unlocked and that she would be home shortly from the grocery store. He had decided to bring Oskar with him instead of Luna and he placed the small dog onto the hardwood floors of Evelyn's apartment. Oskar's short nails clicked against the floor as he ran off to explore the area of the living room. Oliver made his way into the kitchen and looked around. The apartment itself looked way more pricey than what she actually paid. The kitchen counters were a deep forest green with white marble countertops in the shape of an L. A singular bar was built off the right of the kitchen against a half wall that faced the living room. The backsplash tile was also marble white and birch wood cabinets hung over most of the countertops except for where the sink was facing a window. A few feet away from the kitchen was a circular white table with three equally white chairs on three sides of the table and a cushioned booth seat on the final side against the wall. A wicker basket light hung over the table and a plant sat in the middle of it just like the rest of the kitchen. She had a thing for plants and he knew because half of the plants that decorated the kitchen, he bought. Oskar yipped as the front door opened.

"A dog?" Evelyn questioned.

"I don't remember impulse buying you." Oliver chuckled and peeked around the wall of the kitchen.

"Ah. That explains why there's a random dog in my apartment." Her smile grew brighter at the sight of him and Oliver moved to help grab some of the bags she was struggling to balance.

"Thank you Mr. Sykes." she joked with a laugh and he laughed with her. She gave him a peck on the cheek once they reached the kitchen and placed the bags on the countertop. He walked into the living room that was a stark contrast to the white kitchen. The living room was mostly shades of grey. The walls were a few shades lighter of charcoal grey while the shelves that lined the largest wall was a dark grey, almost black. The wrap around couch was the same color as the walls and the rug that covered the dark wood floors was granite grey. A small coffee table sat in the middle of the rug and housed a small cactus that would always prick her no matter how hard she tried to avoid it. A black over head lamp gave the small plant enough light to live in the dark room. Oliver had to pull Oskar away from the large elephant ear plant so he wouldn't tip the heavy ceramic pot over.

"Oli, can you help chop vegetables for me?" He padded back into the kitchen where Evelyn was struggling to set the temperature to boil the noodles.

"Sure." he answered and pulled the cutting board from the drying rack near the sink.
