Second Chances

Childhood

Hana sat in the dining room of the Minoru mansion. The three Minoru sisters were doing their homework, when suddenly Hana started singing:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes the sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

"Homework?" Tina and Robert walked in, "Or a concert?"

"Hi mom." Hana smiles.

"こんにちは、お母さん," Amy smiled, "そしておとうさん。"

"Well, well, well," Tina sat down next to Amy, "somebody's been learning Japanese, haven't they?"

Nico gave a toothy grin at her oldest sister, "ありがとう、お姉さん。"

Hana nodded, "妹を歓迎します。"

Robert tickled Nico.

Nico yelped up and screeched, "Stop! Mommy..."

Tina sat her youngest daughter on her lap, "Have you taken a shower, yet, missy?"

Nico looks up at her mother and runs to the bathroom.

Amy gasped following her younger sister.

Tina rolls her eyes as her gaze finally settles at her oldest daughter still at the table doing her homework, "Have you showered, yet?"

Hana without looking up asked, "Have you?" Tina frowns. Hana feeling her mother's glare finally looks up, "We can go on and on all night, but we both know someone needs to shower and its not me... by the way, there's a trip..."

"Where, when, and how long is this trip?" Tina questions.

"New York, next week, and two weeks..." Hana replied.

"いかれた女の子..." Robert shakes his head, "two weeks in New York?"

Hana frowns, "Don't think of it as a fun trip, think of it as an investment towards my future..."

"You are wasting your time in acting..." Tina reasons with her daughter, "acting is a hobby... how do you propose to make money with acting and singing?"

Hana braced herself, she had heard the lecture a million times before; but once she's 18 she'll get out of here and go live in New York and yes, she knows it would be hard to get into Broadway, but she's not afraid to do anything and everything for her dream.
