Chapter 18

Sydney was not impressed with the arrival of her sister and was ranting about the alchemist and re-education with Zoe in the next room with Rose and Dimitri.
"Sydney! You need to chill out!" I snapped
"You didn't go through it!" She snapped and I snorted
"No. What I went through was ten times worse" I said
"And you chained your uncle to a wall!" She yelled
"He tried to kill my son!" I yelled
"Not the point, ladies!" Aidan intervened
"He's right. Zoe is a witch, all I need is to talk to her and I'll know what her intentions are" I said
"She fooled me for weeks" Sydney sighed
"I'm not you and now, I know how to handle her" I said and walked out to see Zoe making small talk with Rose and Dimitri about their wedding.
"Nikki!" Rose exclaimed, happy to be saved from the awkward tension.
"Hey, Rose. Dimitri" I nodded at them and they left.
"Aren't they worried I was sent to kill you?" Zoe asked and I laughed
"You couldn't kill me if your tried" I laughed
"I want to talk to Sydney" she said
"Sydney's not here. She's still in Court. In the human world. Which leads me to question: how did you get here?" I asked and she looked down.
"I need to talk to her. I know she's here" she said
"I'll be the messenger" I said
"Tell her I'm sorry" she said
"Your sorry?!" Sydney exploded, storming out of the room.
"Inside! Now!" I yelled
"I just wanted to make dad happy! But I realized too late that he never cared about us" Zoe said
"You turned me over to the Alchemist! They put me in Re-Education!" She yelled, picking Zoe up by the shirt.
"I'm sorry! I didn't know everything" she sobbed
"It's too late for sorries" she snarled
"ENOUGH!" I yelled, standing up and they were both flung across opposite sides of the room like rag dolls.
Sydney handed in Adrian's arms and Zoe landed on a couch.
"What was that for?" Sydney bit out.
"Watch it" I growled and Aidan rubbing my shoulder
"You have no idea what the Alchemist did to me. You have gone through worse, but you did not go through that" she said angrily
"Adrian, take her away" I said cooly and he sighed, leading her out of the room.
"What are you playing at?" Aidan asked me and I shrugged him off and walked towards Zoe.
"Everyone leave us" I said and they all slipped away.
"Will she ever forgive me?" She asked
"In time. It takes time for people to forgive. It's easier to forget than to forgive, but when you've been through half the stuff I have, you see that it's also better to forgive than to regret" I said wisely
"How old are you?" She asked, shocked
"Twenty five" I said and leaned back on the couch.
"What is going on with me?" She asked and closed her eyes.
A pen began to levitate in front of us, it was wobbly, but it was there.
"That, is magic" I smiled
"Tell me how to stop it" she begged
"Zoe, magics not a curse, it's a gift. One so few people possess. I can teach you to control it, but then it's up to you to decide your fate" I said
"Magics evil" she said
"Is your sister evil?" I asked casually
"No" she said
"Then how is her gift evil? Magic isn't good nor evil. Just like one person can be evil and one a saint, it takes the person wielding the power to choose which side to take. Only you can make that choice" I said
"How do I control it?" She asked
"Do you love your sister?" I asked
"Of course" she said
"Would you protect our secret?" I asked
"I will" she said
"Then, I will let you attend one of the academies. But, you must let me do a quick spell first" I said
"Will it hurt?" She asked
"It's might sting a little, but it'll go away quickly" I said and she nodded.
I set a hand on her forehead and closed my eyes, muttering the words to a telepathy spell.
I heard old conversations in my head and her own thoughts as she studied others.
She truly is sorry and is just lost and confused.
"Welcome to Bonnet Academy, Zoe" I smiled at her and she sighed.
"What now?" She asked
"Now, I go talk to your sister" I chuckled
"Good luck" she grinned
"Thanks. I'm gonna need it" I laughed before standing and walking towards the stairs.
