Chapter 26: Nothing Else MattersThe night sky was lit with stars while I got on the freeway. And I just wanted to get Christopher home. And I actually don't know his directions but luckily he has this GPS in his car that I'm using to get to his house. Christopher is barely awake. Or so it seems. And the first thing I did was look over at him, seeing his face looking in the opposite direction. But on my mind was everything that happened with Christopher. My dad triggered him to drink because he forced him to stay away.
The thing is I don't regret what I had with Christopher. And I want to stay friends with him. And right now he does need me. Noah just doesn't understand that. I know that Noah and his brother have bad blood. And his sister and him talk and see each other through special occasions only. And Noah never visits home in Calabasas. So he's distant. Meaning he's not close with his family like I am. So he doesn't understand what I have when it comes to Christopher. He's my stepbrother and I have to make sure he's alright. The last time things were at odds... Christopher nearly killed himself and I was responsible for that. So I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.
I know that I shouldn't have left with Christopher. But I'm only driving him home safely so he doesn't do anything stupid. Like get into an accident while drunk. And he could get into a car accident and get killed or kill somebody else. So this way he won't hurt anyone. And Noah might be upset but he'll understand eventually. And I don't expect him to understand. But I want him to see things through my point of view.
The night was pretty calm. But it wasn't as expected. I had used the GPS to find my way to Christopher's complex at 612 Pine View Avenue at the Willow complex. I just hope I find it. And Christopher seems not himself. And as I'm driving I noticed only the drunk Christopher tells me the truth. His true feelings. The sober Christopher doesn't say the truth. So I think Colleen is right about everything she said. How she said Christopher will never love anyone like how he loved me. Like show Peach is the side chick. And I definitely see it when he showed up drunk still showing how he still was in love with me...but that was the drunk truthful Christopher not the sober Christopher who won't say the truth.
Christopher told me four months ago that he wasn't in love with me anymore. So my guess it's all a lie. And I know when Christopher wakes up sober he won't remember most of this. And I just thought of how much this will hurt Peach. But I just want Christopher to be with someone who isn't Peach because she's been obsessed with him from the start. And thats not a relationship.
Are you actually feeling pity for Peach, my subconscious mind said.
"Quit being crazy about the past life we had together." I heard Christopher mumble to himself out loud as if he was talking in his sleep.
I ignored what he said, while I looked over at him to see if he was alright. And he seemed a little out of it. Like he was not himself. Definitely not conscious that's for sure. I'm sure him being drunk and saying all of those things made him exhausted from it. I just want to get him up to his apartment to his room to get him to sleep so that he can be sobered up.
By the time we stopped at a red light, I noticed Christopher finally looked more over at me. And it's the first time I saw his face since we got in the car.
"You're wearing my necklace." He muttered incoherently.
"Hmm?" I looked at the red light, waiting patiently for it to turn green.
"The necklace your wearing. It's my necklace I gave you..." his voice trailed off. "...for Christmas."
I was hoping that he wouldn't recognize it on me. But unfortunately he had seen it even though he was drunk. And I didn't want to tell him I wore it by mistake.
