             Chapter 2: Welcome Home

When we reached Los Angeles, I released a gasp. I couldn't exactly believe what was happening at this moment while arriving. And when I was able to see the driveway we pulled into. I actually wasn't expecting the house that I laid my eyes on.

The house was a nice beige color and a lot of windows. The yard was extremely huge. And I saw a gray truck parked in the driveway which I assume is Gavin's. And I smiled and I saw by the tree there was a tire swing. And I always wanted that. But dad thought it was a crazy idea. And I was only six.

Once mom parked the car her phone started to ring. But she had ignored it because she wanted to spend the day with me since it is my first day home. And I saw her roll her eyes. I have a theory that it was obviously my father. And I always sense when he is thought of or mentioned. And I haven't seen him in nine months and he still has that affect on me.

The front porch of the nice lovely house had a nice red door. And I saw a tall man coming out of the front door and from the house. He was handsome and he seemed quite like the kind my mother would date. And it's not his looks. It's just intuition, I guess. And I saw him nicely dressed and he cane to the car taking my suitcase from me which I gladly let him. And I smiled at him just in the joy of seeing the man my mother eloped with.

And he had embraced my mother and they both looked at me as if today was the best day of their lives. But though, it was mine as well. And I just stared at them both with the proudest smile. I couldn't help but just smile at them. They could be the endgame. And I was so proud my mother found a man who can love her and take care of her.

"You must be the famous Emma. Your mother has told me everything about you. And I wanna say I'm glad your here." Gavin said, a great wide smile coming onto his face as also mine.

"Yes, I'm glad to be home. But I do love the house. It's bigger than the house mom had nine months ago." I chuckled, leaning closer in.

"Well come on in then. There's a lot to see." Gavin offered.

When I stepped inside the house, I just smiled. The sitting room was gorgeous. The house smelled like pumpkin spice and coffee. I honestly was blown by the house. I walked further into the large kitchen that attached with the dining room that also led to the patio and out in the back was of course a beautiful garden where mom and Gavin grow their fruits and vegetables. And I saw how nice the kitchen was. And on the armchair that lied in the sitting room was a beautiful cat. Mom was always a cat person.

I smiled being polite hoping not to be hissed or hated by her. And then I had stepped further into the sitting room. There was the nice fireplace and a nice creamy beige color of a leather armchair. And two sofas that were suede blue. And the carpet was beige. And over in the corner was a desk with a laptop and a phone. But in the center of the sitting room was a nice coffee table. And a flat screen TV. And of course on the wall there were a few picture frames of Gavin holding his daughter, Alex when she was a baby. And I saw another photo where Alex looks two. And then my kindergarten picture is in a frame hanging up. Especially because I had missing teeth. I was only five. And I was wearing a purple dress and my hair was in two braids.

I found the house very comforting and relaxing. I just stared at the glazed candles that were on by the hall of the kitchen right where the coffee table is by the wall when you walk in the front door. On there was two picture frames. One of Alex that looks probably a recent school photo and a picture of me on my sophomore year. And the candles flickered. There were two and the scent was lovely.

"It's beautiful." I sighed, looking at everything around me in my own appreciation.

"How about you see your new room?" Mom suggested.
