Katara POV:
The second day is what I think is the worst. It's when most teachers get down to business and change from their friendly demeanor to wicked authority figures that assign homework as if we can spend all of our free time doing work from them. My phone chimed with my alarm to the song, Bring Me to Life by Evanescence. I groaned. I slapped my phone and hit snooze. I felt like getting more shut-eye. I realized I should probably shower before going to school. Ignoring that I just hit snooze, I push the blankets off of me and started walking towards the bathroom that was across my room. I brushed my hair which is always a pain considering that it's long and always manages to get tangled no matter what. I hop into the shower and put on some music. With shampoo in my hair, I'm caught off guard with my alarm going off again. It took me a few seconds to wash all the shampoo off and turn it off for real this time. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body to dry off. I waterbent the water out of my hair, not wanting to have to deal with it frizzing over the day, and dumped the water in the drain. Eventually, the foggy mirror cleared up as I started my normal routine. I brushed my teeth and set my hair into what Sokka calls "hair loopies", but instead of my usual braid, I decided on a high bun where the "hair loopies" would connect to it. I picked a random t-shirt with some Jean shorts and put them on. It's still a bit chilly in the mornings so I decided on a zip-up hoodie and headed downstairs. I saw a groggy Sokka making some bacon. I snatched a few pieces from his stack while he swatted at me.

"Katara! Leave me and my meat alone.," he said all whiny.

I rolled my eyes and ate some cereal. I went to YouTube and started watching OddManOut. By the time I finished, Sokka was ready to go. I grabbed my bag and phone and headed out.

On the drive, Sokka went to pick up Suki as per usual then made his way to school. I saw Appa fly in and land in the field behind the school. I got a little excited.

"Sokka, Suki, I want you to see something!"

I practically dragged them to the field, hoping I wasn't too late.

"Hi, Appa!" I screamed.

Aang was getting off of Appa and turned towards me. Appa grunted and Aang waved.

"What is that?!" Sokka asked in disbelief.

"It's Aang's flying bison, Appa," I said.

I ran closer to Appa to pet him.

"Hey, Aang,"

"Hi, are you ready for chemistry?" He asked.

"No, not really, but luckily it's still the beginning of the year."

He nodded as Sokka came up to us and said, "Aang! What?"

Aang smiled and said gesturing, "Sokka and Suki, this is Appa, Appa, this is Sokka and Suki."

Appa roared a little, and Aang went back to pet Appa's forehead.

"Go home, Buddy! Yip-yip!"

Appa took off and headed beyond the tree line. Sokka's jaw hung open.

"Wow! That's so cool!" He shouted.

"Yeah, Appa is awesome," Aang said lovingly.

I went up to Aang and started talking about what would be happening today.

"Wow, we usually spend a whole week getting to know each other even though we've all known each other for years." He exclaimed.

"Wow, that's really different. I mean I know some people from over the years, but there's always new people in my class."
