Katara's POV:

Waking up on Mondays are always the hardest. My groan as Bring Me to Life by Evanescence made this apparent. I slapped my phone, muting the music. I was face-down on my pillow, head tilted towards my window. I opened my eyes and slowly crawled out of bed. I went directly to the shower with my phone in hand. While letting the water warm-up, I picked out a playlist of music to listen to.

I stepped under the hot water. I sighed as my hair became soaked, and I became less focused on the early morning. I started lathering the shampoo in my hair while softly bopping my head to Hail Rain or Sunshine by The Script.

After my shower, I stepped onto the bathmat and looked at the steam that was swirling around. I had forgotten to turn on the fan. I wrapped my towel around my body, tucking in the corner. I stopped the music, flipped the switch for the fan, and started wiping the foggy mirror. I waterbent the water out of my hair, splashing the water in the shower's drain. I grabbed my phone and went back to my room.

It was officially Autumn, meaning it was pretty much chunky sweater time. However, it wasn't that cold yet, so I stuck with a simple graphic t-shirt and some ripped jeans. I brushed my hair and put it in a high ponytail. I left two front strands of my hair out then I linked them to the base of the ponytail. I picked up my backpack and brought it downstairs, closing the door to my room.

I went to the kitchen, dropping my backpack next to the kitchen table. Sokka was making his "hearty meal of the day" on the stove. I gazed at the stove and saw the logs of sausage cooking. I went to the pantry and took out the oats for oatmeal and syrup. I pulled out a small pot, filled it with water, and placed it on the stove beside the cooking sausages. I took out a bowl from the cabinet and placed it on the counter. I went to the now boiling water and added the oats.

"Katara," Sokka said.

"Yeah?"

"Hockey tryouts are after school today. Can you find a ride to get home, or can you wait?"

Great. Sokka's going to get in, and I'm going to have to wait for him every single day again or having to hitch a ride from everyone. Either that or I'd have to walk around three miles. Let's just say it's not my cup of tea.

"Fine. I'll text you when I find a ride."

We fell back into silence as I poured the oatmeal into the bowl I had on the counter. I added some syrup and berries, and I sat at the table.

Sokka and I both finished our food, and we went to his car to get to school. He connected his phone to the car's Bluetooth, and we started listening to his cue. When we approached the school, we rushed inside, knowing that we were on the late side of on time. I knew that Aang would already be in his seat in Chemistry. However, when I arrived in class, his seat was taken by someone else. A girl with black hair tied in a bun with two bangs hanging from the side of her face. I was confused; where was Aang? My eyes darted around the room, trying to locate Aang. He was sitting in the back of the classroom. I had a minute until class would start, so I walked over to ask him about the girl in his seat.

Approaching his seat with a confused smile, I said, "Who's that sitting in your normal seat?"

"I think her name is Azula. She's new here. She wanted a seat in the front, so I gave mine up."

There was an open seat next to him, surely Mr. Chey wouldn't mind if I sat here. I had a good grade in his class, and I'm assuming that Aang did as well. It's not like we'd let our grades slip by sitting next to each other. I walked to the seat and slid on.

"What are you doing?" He questioned.

"Sitting in the open seat. I doubt Mr. Chey will mind."
