A/N Hello people! Thank you so much for your support! Really quick I have to say I don't own any of these characters, they belong to Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. I've been doing my best to make these as fast as I can, like many other writers, school takes up 90% of my time. Sorry again if this story chapter is too long. No seriously, this chapter is 6104 words long. I'm so sorry! Comment as much as you like, I would love to hear your opinions. Also also, I'm trying to make it as realistic as possible to real school (when we had it). I hope you enjoy it! Now to the story!
Aang POV:
Yesterday was indeed a good day. For some reason, the name Zuko echoed in my head. I remembered it from something but I couldn't put my finger on it just yet. However, I really hope these friends would last. I don't know if I can deal with another loss. My mind is filled with memories from the past. Nightmares, that jolted me awake. I was sweaty and my heart rate was much higher. I picked up my phone to read the time, it was 4:29 am. I looked around my room, it was perfectly normal and nothing was out of place. I got up from my firm bed and put a sweatshirt on. I went to my window and looked out. After gazing for a few seconds I turned around and headed downstairs. I went through the backdoor as quietly as the door would allow and walked towards the barn Appa rested in.
"Hey, buddy!" I whispered.
Appa was sound asleep, snoring slightly. I walked closer to Appa and hugged him while stroking his head.
"It's just you, me, Gyatso, and Momo," I said, full of guilt.
After around 15 minutes of Appa time, I sneakily went back up to my oom. I got under the covers once again and tried to silence the memories that were playing in my unrestful mind.
"Aang you have to get out! You aren't safe here! Gyatso, you must take him somewhere safe!" She screamed.
No, Mom, let me stay, let me help!"
"No, I'll come for you when it's safe."
I heard an explosion, out of instinct, I ducked.
"Please, the world needs you." Mom pleaded.
Tears broke from my eyes.
"I love you, Mom!" My voice cracked.
My wrist was held by Monk Gyatso. I turned back to my mother to see her running back into the flames.
"Aang we have to go, now!" Gyatso said in a panicky tone.
What was the point? They were bound to find me. What good would running do for my life?
Elemental High School could be where everything ends. With my hot tears streaming down the side of my face onto my pillow, I drifted into an even more unsettling nightmare of my memories.
My alarm blasted into my ears which concluded my sleep. I did my routine of brushing my teeth, showering, and changing into a plain grey shirt with black sweatpants and added an orange pullover hoodie to complete my outfit. I grabbed my phone, my backpack which was neatly organized by period, and headed downstairs for breakfast.
"Hello, Aang, how did you sleep last night?" Monk Gyatso asked.
"I-uh-I slept well." I lied as I scratched the back of my neck while my eyes looked towards the ground.
"Aang, I know you're lying. First off, you do the neck scratch and look to the floor, and second, I heard you open the back door."
"Oh-uh-sorry," I said, looking at the cereal and milk that was laid out for me.
