It was finally the day of the duets competitions. Everyone was getting extremely excited, but mostly Rachel Berry. She had even worn her special pink pleated skirt for the occasion. So, once she had picked up medium drip from the Lima Bean (Blaine had recommended it to her, she didn't like it but drank it anyway) she headed to the auditorium early for vocal runs.

Despite distracting herself with warm ups and doing her best to get the taste of medium drip out of her mouth, Rachel felt at war with herself. She didn't know why, but ever since the year started Rachel felt different. She had first thought it was Finn, the cute new kid. And Rachel liked him but only liked him. But she only felt love for someone once this year. And she had thought that it would have gone away by now, but it didn't. Rachel had to admit to herself, that she was in love with Quinn Fabray.

Why, she didn't know. Quinn was just another high school cheerleader cliche, or so Rachel had thought at first. But like most people, Quinn was more than what meets the eye. Quinn wasn't just a beautiful blondie with sweet green eyes. She was a confident, smart, charming person. And Rachel loved that about her.

But Quinn would never feel the same way. And Rachel died a little bit everyday because of this. Getting lost in thought, Rachel didn't notice that Kurt had entered the auditorium until he tapped her on the shoulder.

"Rach? You good? You look a little frustrated." Kurt sat down at the piano. He took a sip of his Lima Bean cup.

"Yes, Kurt. I'm great. Perfect actually." She replied. Kurt gave her a look, and she turned away. "Have you ever liked somebody so much you just want to, lock yourself in your room, turn on sad music, and cry?" Kurt gave her a hug.

"This is about Finn, isn't it?" Kurt asked. Rachel took a second, then decided to lie to Kurt. She wasn't ready to tell anyone yet.

"Yes, it is. But I don't know how to tell Qu-Finn about it. He doesn't notice me like that. I don't think anyone does." Rachel said. Kurt shook his head.

"Please Rachel, you are all that Finn seems to talk about anymore. I love you Rach, but it would be nice to hear about something other than the way you strut down the hallway." He told her. Rachel offered a small smile.

"You know Kurt, Blaine talks a lot about you as well. He's always like 'Kurt's hippo brooch looked fantastic on him today'. And, 'Kurt has an amazing French accent. I heard him speaking with it while passing the French classroom to head to the bathroom yesterday.' It's very cute." Rachel said. Kurt smiled and blushed.

"I'm sure you're over exaggerating." Kurt felt giddy.

"I'm not Kurt. I think you guys really have a shot. Now, while I have you here I would like to do something. I know that we both love Judy Garland and Barbra Steisand. So, let's sing together. Brad!" Brad walked in as soon as Rachel called him in. He started playing the opening notes to 'Happy Days Are Here Again/ Get Happy'.

So long sad times

Go long bad times

We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times

Cloudy gray times

You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again

The skies above are clear again

So let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now

There's no one
