"A duet is more than a song. It's a partnership, a bond between two people. A collaboration of some sort." Mr. Schue started. "This week you will be getting a duet partner. Really get to know them. Connect on a deep level. We should see you two in the song. And the winners will get......two tickets to Breadstix! So without further ado, Santana will you please come up here to choose a partner."

As Santana chose Brittney's name out of the 'magic hat', Blaine turned to Kurt. "It would cool if we could sing a duet together. I know we still have to choose partners, but it would be fun for us to sing together. And that was really random, sorry."

"No, I was thinking the same thing. If we do pull each other's names." Kurt felt happy that someone would want to sing with him. He was settling into McKinley pretty well. He smiled thinking to himself what duet him and Blaine would perform, when he heard Rachel call out the name:

"Blaine! Congratulations, you are my duet partner. I have many ideas." Rachel smiled. "Kurt, it's your turn to pick a partner." Blaine looked a little disappointed, but tried to hide it when Rachel went and sat next to him.

"Wow plot twist Rachel and Blaine are partners. I thought for sure Finchel and Klaine would perform together." Brittney said from the back right corner where her and Santana were brainstorming ideas.

Kurt went up to the hat and grabbed a name. Mercedes. He smiled and turned to the glee club. "Mercedes! We are going to kill this thing!"

"You guys don't even stand a chance! We are going to Breadstix together!" Mercedes said, then turned to Kurt. "Platonically."

At the end of the day here were the partnerships:

Tina and Mike

Quinn and Sam

Puck and Finn

Blaine and Rachel

Kurt and Mercedes

Santana and Brittney

And Artie had decided to drop out so there wasn't an uneven number of people.

Kurt saw Blaine leaving the choir room and tapped him on the shoulder. Blaine spun around to face him. "Hey Kurt, what's up? Rachel was just giving some ideas for our duet. Sorry, did you need something?"

"Well, I figured since we did get different duet partners but still want to sing together, why don't we? I mean not part of the assignment. If you don't want to, or are too busy, that's completely fine as well! I just noticed that we've never sang together before." Kurt said, getting these weird feelings in his stomach. Butterflies? I probably just need to drink more water or something. Kurt thought. He wasn't getting butterflies. Not from Blaine.

"Yeah, of course! I would love you- to. I would love to. Sorry that sounded like I said I love you, but I meant I would love to. I don't love you. I mean, not that I won't eventually. And it will be in a very friend-like way. But we've only known each other a few weeks, sorry I'm kind of rambling. Yes. I would love to sing a duet with you. I will text you my address." Blaine finally finished.

"Great. I will see you at a convenient time." Why did I say it like that? Kurt thought. I should really get some more sleep.

"Get a room you two." Santana said from behind. You know what? Santana thought. I DO ship them. She laughed and walked out to her car as she could feel Kurt and Blaine's gay panics.
