Quinn felt like she was going to puke. Kurt was such an amazing friend who has helped her and Rachel so much over the past few weeks. And to repay his kindness, she was trying to sabotage his relationship to save her own skin. Even worse, Mara had changed her decision about coming. So now Quinn had to spend the night ruining Kurt's relationship and pretending to have fun with her blackmailer. Needless to say, Quinn was dreading Saturday night.
And on top of that, Rachel had her date with Finn the day before. Rachel hadn't told Quinn how it had gone, but Quinn was secretly hoping there had been no spark. Despite her ego, selfishness and reindeer sweaters, Quinn harbored feelings for the short brunette. They were feelings she wished more than anything would go away, but feelings nonetheless.
So when Mara showed up at her door 15 minutes early, she did not jump for joy. Instead, Quinn plastered on a fake smile and welcomed Mara inside. She led her up to her room where Mara quickly took a spot sitting on Quinn's spinning chair which was placed at her desk. "Are you ready?" Mara questioned.
Quinn, still feeling a little queasy decided to ask a question that had been on her mind a lot since Mara had started to blackmail her. "I am wondering, why are you obsessing over Blaine. He's a very nice guy, but if you love him so much, why not just be happy for him? He really loves Kurt and wants to be with him." Quinn held a shred of hope that after hearing this Mara would agree with her and delete the video of her conversation with Rachel in the bathroom.
Instead however, she shrugged it off. "Blaine doesn't know what he wants. And anyway he's probably just going out with Kurt because he is bored. But I don't think that they're going to last much longer. Kurt's such a prude." She studied her manicured nails. They were a deep shade of red, the color of blood. Quinn wouldn't have been surprised if it was blood. The doorbell rang. "Oh! Speak of the devil!" Mara exclaimed.
But you arrived a few minutes ago. Quinn thought to herself. Mara motioned for her to get the door, and doing her best to hide an annoyed expression she shuffled down the stairs. From there Quinn opened the door to a smiling Kurt and let him in with a forced smile. "Come in!"
She brought Kurt up to her bedroom, where he looked very confused when he saw Mara sitting at Quinn's desk. "I um.. didn't know you were coming!" He tried to sound enthusiastic, but did do so well.
"Oh well, Quinn invited me." She started, then whipped out a sweet smile that made Quinn want to hurl. "And I also wanted to apologize. I got the feeling that we got off on the wrong foot." Kurt nodded along. "I just wanted to know that Blaine was going to get hurt. He's an incredible person, and I want him to be with someone who loves him."
Kurt strangely felt a lot better. "Thank you. And I'm sorry for being so snippy with you the other day. Believe it or not , I thought you were flirting with him! Wait, were you?" He questioned.
Mara burst into laughter. "Oh god no! I do not see Blaine like that. At. All. That's just kind of how I talk to people. No, I would never flirt with Blaine. He's just my friend, and not my type." Kurt tilted his head in a manner that seemed to be asking a question. "And no Kurt, I'm not a lesbian. I like guys, just not Blaine."
Kurt seemed relieved, which caused Mara to smile. This would have been sweet, if it wasn't for the reason that she had just wrapped him around her finger. Quinn butted in, because well this was her house and she had been standing in the back corner of the room for the duration of the conversation wanting to tell Kurt not to trust Mara.
"So, who wants something to eat? We have popcorn?" Quinn offered, which made Kurt and Mara grin. They both nodded. "I'll go grab it." But while the popcorn was popping, she was making a phone call. To, believe it or not David Karofsky. She figured they were in this together, like it or not. Plus, she needed to talk to someone. Usually Kurt was that someone but due to well, Mara going after his boyfriend, she couldn't exactly say anything. Karofsky picked up after 7 tries.
