Sunday was a totally different story. One moment she was acting like the cruel wicked witch that I had gotten to know, but then she sent me to the Juice Bar to pick up our dinner. I wasn't questioning why she was allowing me out of the house when I was grounded. I practically ran out of the house before she could change her mind.
I remembered where the Juice Bar was because it was in the same building as the Youth Center, just one door over. I did notice that there was a connecting hall in the building that paired the two together. I didn't waste any time getting there because I was too afraid that I was going to get trapped by putties again. I was not giving them that opportunity. I swung the door of the Juice Bar open and then marched inside looking for the register. I found it at the Bar table and then waited my turn in line. While I waited, I looked around the place to check it out for myself. I had heard a few people mention it but I had never been there myself yet.
While standing, I spotted Kimberly sitting at a table with another girl. She looked up just as I saw her, so I waved while still waiting in line. She waved back and then got up. The other girl she was sitting with got up and followed her over to me.
"Danielle, this is Aisha. Aisha, this is Danielle." Kimberly introduced us.
"Hi." I smiled.
"Want to come sit with us?" Kimberly asked.
"I would love too, but I have to bring my grandmothers dinner back to her. Plus, I'm still grounded until the next century." I shrugged.
"What are you grounded for?" Aisha asked.
"Do you go to Angel Grove High School?" I asked.
"Yes." She nodded.
"I squirted glue in Bulk's face on my first day there and I got suspended for it. Therefore, I got grounded." I told her. There was still one more person in line in front of me, so we still had a few seconds to chat.
"That was you?! I'm in that same class and saw the whole thing happen! They really deserved that." Aisha started laughing.
"I swear I still feel like I have glue in my hair." I frowned, walking up to the counter and told the man what I was here for. He had told me that it was going to be just a few more minutes before my food was ready, but he would bring it over to me if I wanted to go and sit with Kimberly and Aisha while I waited. So, that's what I did.
"Those two were asking for it. Picking on the poor new girl." Aisha shook her head.
"I'm so bummed that we couldn't have a sleep over this weekend. Maybe we can do it this upcoming Friday. This way it will give all our parents enough time to think about it." Kimberly suggested.
"Yes! That would be a good idea." Aisha agreed.
"It wouldn't hurt to ask." I shrugged.
"So, where in Angel Grove do you live?" Aisha asked.
"My grandmother and I live on Nineth and Burke street. We're the corner house. On the right side when you turn onto Burke." I told her.
"Really? You're Ms. Hale's granddaughter? I live just two blocks over on Seventh and Burke." She smiled.
"Yeah." I fake smiled. From the way her eyes light up when she said my grandmothers name, it seemed like she liked my grandmother. I guess she didn't know her the way I did... and I barely knew her.
"Maybe we can start walking to school together." Aisha suggested.
"Yeah, that would be cool!" I was telling the truth that time because after getting attacked by the putties, I was honestly afraid to walk alone.
