I lost track of the days and the time a long time ago. I had to been locked in this basement for at least a month or longer at this point – but then again, it could have merely been days that seemed like they dragged on forever. Either way, this was my new home and I honestly think I am starting to go crazy down here. I was hearing things that I knew weren't there and I think I was even seeing... things? I definitely knew I was seeing thing, but what really made me think that I was going crazy was the face that they were talking to me – and I was talking back.
The first time I saw them, I was really confused. I stared at the two girls standing in front of me, trying to figure out if I was hallucinating or if they were actually there. They were two girls who looked about my age, maybe just a year or two older. Definitely a lot prettier than I was and that made me a little jealous – even if they were just hallucinations. I looked at the first girl, studying all of her features. She had incredibly smooth chocolate skin, dark hazel eyes, black hair that reached just about her shoulder and there were slight ringlet curls throughout it, almost like braids but it was hard to make out in the dim lighting. She wore a bright yellow shirt and a black pair of jeans that accentuated her waist. She reminded me a lot of Aisha and that hurt some.
Then I turned my gaze to the girl standing next to her. She was much taller – almost as tall as I remembered Tommy being, maybe just a few inches shorted. I looked her over seeing her long blonde hair flow in her face. She wore a bright pink shirt with a blue overall dress overtop of it. She had ivory skin that complimented her blue eyes perfectly.
I stared at them both, wondering if they were real or not and I finally muttered to myself, "I've officially gone crazy."
"Well, not actually." The shorter girl commented.
"Wow, I can hear them... I've really lost my mind." I shook my head, still fully watching them.
"That's because we're here to help you, silly." The blonde said.
"I can't be helped." I laughed.
"We were sent by our friends... some people that are really worried about you. They've been watching you have a difficult time down here and they think they can help you." The blonde said as she sat down on her knees. The other girl followed by crossed her legs in front of her. They made themselves comfortable as if they were staying for a while. I stayed put sitting on the ground near the bathroom.
"Trust me, no ones worried about me." I shook my head, "You two sound as crazy as I feel right now."
"She really means it. These people can help you." The other girl said.
"Who are these people? If they've been watching me struggle, then why haven't they wanted to help me before it got to this point?" I wondered, not really believing their story.
"They... they couldn't help you then. They had to wait until you were at your lowest – when they could really break into your mind for you to see us. You had walls up before that we couldn't get passed." The blonde said.
"Who are these people?" I asked again.
The exchanged a glance at each other at first and then the girl in yellow continued, "We can't tell you that because then you won't accept their help... and I hate to sound harsh, but you really need it..."
"Well, if you can't even tell me who they are... then I probably shouldn't be accepting help from them... so sorry, but no thanks." I shook my head.
"They really want to help you, Danielle." The girl said.
"How do you guys even know my name? Why didn't they just come themselves if they wanted to help?" I questioned, thinking about how crazy I was to be sitting here having a conversation with two people that were just an hallucination of my mind.
