I did not go to school the next morning. My grandmother got into a huge fight when I came home from Adam's last night, and it resulted in her breaking three out of my five fingers on my right hand and some of the bones in the top of my hand. I spend the night in the emergency room getting my fingers taped up and my hand put in a brace. She didn't like that I had to work on this project with Adam, so this was her way of telling me that.
I was honestly surprised that she didn't force me to go to school that morning, but we were both so exhausted by the time we got home that she didn't even go to work. I knew deep down that Adam was probably wondering where I was as I laid up in my bed, trying to ignore the pain in my hand. It was just my luck that my communicator went off. There was no way I was going to be able to sneak out of my house to help without my grandmother knowing. If she were to come in my room and see that I wasn't there, I'd be in a whole different world of trouble.
I pressed my fingers around my communicator and then spoke into it, "What is it?"
"Danielle, the rangers need your help in the park. Rita and Goldar have come down to earth with the Putty Patrol." Zordon said.
"Zordon, I can't leave... My grandmother..." I started to say but stop myself.
"Don't worry about your grandmother, Danielle. Alpha and I will make sure she doesn't know you're gone. I am aware of your situation and I will assist to cover you when needed by the Rangers." Zordon said.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Absolutely." He responded.
"Aye, Aye, Aye... Danielle hurry." Alpha said.
"I'm on my way." I stood up from my bed and placed my feet firmly on the ground as I remembered how Adam taught me to teleport on my own. I held onto my communicator and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath as I thought about and visualized the park.
My body started to disappear into the air as I was pulled through the sky and then landed in the park. Teleporting felt effortless and it was quick – one second you were one place and the next you were in another. It was kind of incredible.
When I landed in the park, I saw all the Rangers flying through the air only in their Ninjetti suits and land on the ground. I quickly ran over to them, grabbing Kimberly and helping her up before checking on Adam. I was closer to them both.
"Are you guys alright?" I asked.
"Better now that you're here. We sure could use the extra power right about now." Kimberly said.
"And who are you?" an evil screech came from the woman standing next to Goldar. I remembered him from the last fight, but I had no clue who she was.
"Someone you don't want to mess with." I pointed at her as all of the Ranger grouped around me.
"That's the new Ranger!" Goldar told her.
"We're gonna send you back to the moon where you belong!" Rocky threatened.
"A new Ranger? Goldar get them!" the woman screamed and pointed a staff in my direction, sending a blast of magic in my direction. Apparently magic was real and I was just now finding out about it... then again, I just found out Power Rangers were real and here I was... one of them.
"In case no one told you, I'm pretty good with a staff myself. Want to find out?" I asked.
"You're just another bratty teenager!" she screamed. I remembered Zordon calling her Rita and I remember Adam briefly telling me about her.
"A bratty teenager that is not here to mess around. IT'S MORPHIN TIME!" My morpher appeared in my hand and I threw it out in front of me, "VELOCIRAPTOR!" Within seconds, my suit pieced itself around my body and I posed in a defensive manner with my staff in my hands, ready to use it.
