Apokolips, 30 minutes ago.

Jack, Cissie, Steven and Cassie parted from Damian, Jon and the kids as they followed the signal towards the hellspores. As they walked away, Jack kept looking back at both of his brothers, worried that something might happen to them both.

"We need to hurry." Jack simply said as he started to run, hurriedly.

"Jackie, wait!" Cissie yelled as the three of them started to run for him, as they made their way through the planet.  

After a while...

"Dad!" Steven called as he watched his Dad running, as he panted. "Dad, wait!" He yelled as he stopped to catch his breath.

"Jackie! Jackie stop!" Cissie yelled, finally catching her husband's attention as Jack stopped running. "Jack, wait!" 

"W-What?!" Jack yelled, as he turned around, surprising his wife and son. "We're close!" He complained.

"Why are you like this?" Cissie approached Jack. "They're going to be fine..." She reasoned.

"I-I know..." Jack lowered his head. "I-It's just..." 

"You don't need to worry... they'll be alright... and we'll be there on time." Cissie caressed his cheek. "Don't worry..."

"B-But..." Jack tried to reason.

"They'll be-"

"I-It's just... 10 years... Sweetie... 10 years." Jack held his wife's hand, tightly. "I finally got back to you... A-And I can't lose that... ever..." Jack kissed her palm after his mask opened. "10 years... all the suffering that the bastard brought to countless civilization." Jack said softly. "And now... he might take you from me... I-I can't babe... I just can't." He lowered his head. "Last time I confronted Darkseid... he said... He promised that he would destroy them both... then you..." He reasoned. "He began his point by massacring the New Gods in New Genesis... even turning them corrupt at one point. Everyone's next... and I'll be damned if I let him take my whole world." Jack said, determined.

"Damian and Jon." Cissie nodded, agreeing.

"No..." Jack shook his head, softly. "You, honey." He stared lovingly into Cissie's eyes. "The hellspores are the key..."

"The key?" Cassie chimed in as she and Steven approached them. "To what, exactly?"

"Insurance." Jack pointed out. "If I could just convince him to end his reign of terror... Make sure he doesn't meddle with anyone else, anymore." 

"Do you think he'll listen?" Cassie raised a brow. "You said he was mad."

"He better take this once in a lifetime offer." Jack reasoned. "His life literally depends on it. Think about it... all those people he murdered... billions... Started with my family in Raxagron... then his attempt on Earth... then the war... we can finally avenge them."

"So this is what its about? Revenge?!" Cassie raised her voice. 

"No..." Jack shook his head. "I can't take my family back... or all those he's killed before. BUT I WILL NOT LET HIM TAKE WHAT I HAVE LEFT!" Jack yelled as he became frustrated. "I can't let him take you... my friends... and most importantly... my family." He said softly as he embraced his wife. "No one else. No more... No more..."

"Okay..." Cassie finally agreed. 

"We need to protect everyone... For me... right now... We owe them this." Jack reasoned. "We owe this to everyone that died by his hand to try and stop him once and for all." 

"You sound like, Dami." Cissie smiled softly.

"Hmm.... thanks sweetie." Jack smiled softly before giving her a gentle kiss to the forehead. "Love you Steven."
