A/N: Hi guys. Sorry for the unnoticed hiatus I took. School took a toll on me haha
"That was a good lunch," Bolin exclaimed as we exited the restaurant, "I'm ready to take a nap." He yawned and stretched his arm out, smoothly wrapping his left arm around Opal. I turn to Ryujin, who was talking to Korra and Asami, and butted my way to their conversation.
"Wow, I'm stuffed," Korra exhaled, "The halibut skewers was so close to the ones back in the South Pole." They all share a laugh as I went next to Ryujin. "Oh, hey Mako," Ryujin said to me. They all followed up, acknowledging me being there. "I think that Asami and I are gonna head back to the train station," Korra said, pointing forward to nowhere. They both bolted ahead of us and Bolin was already gone with Opal. "I guess that just leaves us two," Ryujin pointed out to me. I frantically look all over the place, trying to calm my nerves. "Are you okay," she asked me, "Let's just head back to Beifongs'." I nodded awkwardly and we walked in silence for awhile.
"Do you think Asami and Korra have a thing for each other," Ryujin said out of nowhere. "I- that would be crazy. I don't think so. And it would be weird since they were both my exes. But I don't have anything against same-sex relationships," I frantically said. "Exes?" I sighed. I was relaxed but I still felt tense. "Yea, they were both my exes," I told her, "But it wasn't like that I swear." She giggled at my frantic self and my nervous speech. "I know," she reassured me, "It's none of my business anyways," she shrugged. We both walked in silence as we reached the train. Even go back was quiet too.
We were greeted by Da Wei when we exited off the train. I couldn't put my finger on it but he was suspicious to me. When Ryujin exited off the train, there was a slight smirk. It was mischievous, like he was going to do something. I made a self note to keep an eye on him. I can't afford to lose Ryujin again.
"Mako," she called out to me, "Are you going to come?" I was still one the train while the other guards just stared and watched. I awkwardly stepped off the train to the platform and caught up with Ryujin. We walked far enough from the guards to where I could express my suspicions on Da Wei. "I think Da Wei is suspicious," I whispered to Ryujin. "Me too," she whispered back at me. I was surprised when she agreed. I thought she would disagree since all Da Wei has done for her was be nice and respectful. "He's been kissing my ass too much. He wants something from me," she added. As she talked, she didn't even face me. It was like she was a focused soldier. But I knew she was keeping the act up to not look suspicious. I should've done the same.
We both walked inside the house, seeing that it was only filled with guards. We casually walked inside as I followed Ryujin. "What are you doing," she asked me. "Oh...well...I was just...um...," I couldn't answer. "You do know I'm going into my room right?" I felt so dumb right when she said that. I wanted to collapse on the floor and just die. But her facial expression didn't seem too disgusted. "You wanna come inside," she teased. "I...I don't want to invade you privacy," I quickly refuse, hoping that I didn't sound too insensitive, "I'll...just get ready for dinner. You should do the same," I suggested. "Oh, well, okay. See you soon," she smiled at me and walked off. I walked off to my room as well.
Waiting for the time to pass, I took my time walking back until I spotted Varrick down the hall. As I did, I speed walked back to my room. I almost made a run for it but sadly, he spotted me. "Hey Mako," he yelled from across the hallway, "Hey wait up." I tried my best to get away but his assistant, Zhu Li, caught me before I could go. Wow, she's a quick one. "I need help with this project, how about as my way of saying thank you for taking the heat back in Republic City with the Unavaatu creature, I can tell you ways to get with your 'lady'," he suggested, raising his brows on the two syllables of lady. I wanted to say no but knowing Varrick and Ryujin's quick relationship, it might just help m- wait, why do I even care? "Look, I don't really care about her okay!" I exclaimed, hoping he would leave me alone. "Your loss kid, well see you at dinner," I shrugged off carelessly like it was no big deal.
I headed off to my room to some peace and quiet. The dinner didn't till five so I had some time to myself. As I sat in my room, all I could think about was Ryujin. She was so pretty, beautiful, smart and so caring. She was just like how she was before. It was like she never changed even after she lossed her memory.

We were on the roof of the Pro-Bending Arena. Ryujin secretly snuck me out from the boring pro-bending match while leaving Bolin there with Shady Shin and Viper.
"Isn't the view so nice out here," she said to me as we approached the top, "Let's get onto the top of the glass," she suggested as she pointed to the dome-like glass roof, "race'ya!"
She quickly dashed off by herself, leaving me behind as I processed the situation. I was pretty slow on my reaction time which sucked a lot for me. "Ryujin," I shouted, "Don't do that! You might get hurt." I didn't want to get hurt by Shady Shin if something were to happen to her. I did care for her physical being but I cared for mine more. I ran for her but as I did, her body was nowhere to be found. "Ryujin," I yelled, "Where are you?" I was afraid that Shady Shin might find me up here but when I looked down, he had his eyes focused on the match. That took some weight off my shoulders. "Ryujin," I yelled again, "Where are y-," I stopped in the middle of my sentence as I finally found Ryujin at the top of the arena.
Her hair flowed so smoothly as she watched the lights of Republic City bring life to the night sky. I couldn't help but watch her as she majestically ponders through the wind. I stood there, dumbfounded by her beauty. She held so much power through just her silhouette that even I was hypnotized by it. "Mako," she cheerfully called my name, "Was I quick enough?" I was on the glass dome facing her while she was on the middle peak, turning her head back to me. Did she really need me? Does she actually need me to guard her? I'm nothing compared to her. If she can outrun me, out hide me, out smart me then does she need me? "Ryujin," I whispered to myself. But she saw my mouth moved and yelled, "Mako, have you ever seen Republic City at night? It's wonderful." And it was. She was wonderful.
A/N: Wow what a way to come back. I've noticed how slow the story is so I'll try to pick up the pace. I just hate use the term "time skip" since it seems so lazy imo.
