It's Not a Date!

"We're on our way! We'll meet you in the treehouse." said Al.

What just happened out there with me and Zander? I need to tell them what just happened.

As I walked into the treehouse in my backyard, memories just flooded through me. The time I first brought Al and Kayla over. The time Al started liking Logan, the time Kayla told us she didn't want to be a cheerleader, and my most cherished memory of all. When I first brought Zander up there.

"Hey Em." Kayla said snapping me back to reality. "Hey guys. I have huge news!" I said as I sat down.

"So from what I just heard, you almost kissed and had a moment?" Al said in her detective voice.

"Ne. We didn't almost kiss. He has a girlfriend, remember?" I said shocked by her words.

"Just because he has a girlfriend doesn't mean he can't like you." Kayla said smiling.

"Exactly my point! Case closed!" Al smiled and said proudly.

"What point? What case? I'm confused!" I said irritated.

"Ah. Ember, Ember, Ember. You're so cute!" Lyssa said as she wiped away a fake tear. "So young, so innocent, so... confused." Lyssa said laughing a little.

"So... I'm not friendzoned anymore?" I yelled very happily.

"That my friend, is correct!" Kayla said matter of factly.

"Hey! Kayla! That's my line!" Lyssa yelled.

"It's ok! as long as Em understands now!" Kayla said grinning from ear to ear.

"So, thanks for driving me to school..." I said still remembering what happened last night.

"Anytime! Are we still on for tonight?" said Zander.

"Of course! I'll meet you by the treehouse 5 minutes after you drop me off so we can get ready! I said clearly very excited.

"So, you have a date with the most popular guy in the whole school who also happens to be one of your good friends, and has a girlfriend who is the captain of the cheer squad?" Lyssa asked very surprised.

"Lyssa. How many times do I have to tell you? It's not a date!" I whispered/yelled.

"Call it what you want Em, but that is definitely a date!" Kayla said as she walked away to mathletes.

"Not you too Kayla!" I said practically yelling down the hall.

"Well, see ya Em! Have fun on your DATE!" Lyssa yelled as she walked to glee club with Logan.

"Uhh! I'll text you!" I said angrily as I walked to journalism.
