Chapter 19

(Y/n)'s p.o.v

I struggle in Hiro's arms as he says "Tadashi, no!" Tadashi looks back at us, then at the building as he says "Callaghan's in there. Someone has to help!" I watch as Tadashi runs off, but I elbow Hiro to let me go, so he groans. Then I grab Tadashi's arm again and pull him back with all of my strength, which made him go back a bit. With that my feet made me run as fast as I can towards the building, but it exploded once I touched a stair. I felt myself fly back as I get blinded and fall back on the ground, my face really hurts now.

Grunting in pain I couldn't hear anything from how loud the explosion was as I look up at the building, it's all in flames. "(Y/n)!... (Y/n)!!" Hiro's voice rings through my ears as I also hear the ambulance's sirens too. What sounds like distant footsteps come as I touch the side of my face and hiss at the pain. Tears fill my eyes as I shut my eyes tight for a second, but I look up to see Tadashi and Hiro looking at me worriedly. Everything started to go black as I feel a migraine coming and see black forming in my eyes.

Groaning I sit up and look around, the entire room is white as I hear a heart monitor, blinking a few times my vision adjusts to the room. 'Okay, I'm in a hospital... but what happened??' I think confused and try to remember. Shaking my head I hear my phone go off with a notification, so I grab it and don't turn it on yet. My reflection looks different.... like a burn mark is on my face... it's so red and it feels like it itches. Turning my phone on I see that it's another text from Mabel, so I open it and see she's just bored.

I tell her that I'll talk to her later as I go to my contacts and tap on Hiro's, lifting my phone to my ear I wait for him to answer. A ringtone started to go off through the room, which got me to jump as I look to the side of my bed. There sat Hiro as he's sleeping in a chair, but he jumped at the sound of his phone ringing. He groans and looks at his phone, but his eyes widened as he looks up at me, so I nervously wave. Hiro's eyes water as he runs over to me saying "oh thank god, you're okay!" I smile softly at him.

"Y-Yeah..." I trail off and clear my throat since it feels scratchy "what... happened?" "The building exploded and you were a bit too close. I don't know what happened to you, but part of your face was red... like really red-" "I noticed. Wait, are you and Tadashi okay?!" I ask worried for the two since they're basically family to me. He smiles and says "y-yeah... thanks to you" then he softly grabs my hand "one of you two could've died if you went in." I tear up and rub my temple that isn't red as I let that fact sink in, but a doctor comes in.

He noticed me sitting up and says "ah, you're awake - if you haven't noticed yet, there's a bit of redness on some parts of your face." I nod my head slowly "what is it??" "It's just a burn scar from the explosion and how close you were to it. And you're lucky it's just a burn scar, you could've-" "died, I acknowledged that fact already." The doctor nods saying "right, but that burn scar is there to stay for about 12 to 18 months." My eyes widen "almost two years?!" Hiro and I ask shocked, so he nods and says "yeah, that's exactly what I said."

The doctor then starts to write on his clipboard and says "I'll give you some antibiotic ointment for you, but you'll need to visit a pharmacy if you run out. Also, while applying I should inform you that you need to use some nonstick gauze pads." I slowly nod and the doctor hands me some of the ointment and says "after we run a few tests you can leave. We will contact the Fredrickson's and inform them of your awakening" then he leaves. I look back at Hiro and hug him close as I whisper out "I'm just happy that you're okay."

Hiro hugged back, but I realized how I sounded and blushed as I say "a-and Tadashi too, we're all okay, which is okay! I-I mean, more than okay. It's great!!" I say happily as we separate from our hug and Hiro's smiling and chuckling a bit. "I always forget how nervous you can get around some people" Hiro says, so I roll my eyes softly. "Wait, how long have I been out??" I ask confused, so Hiro says "almost an entire day." Groaning I say "I wasted a Friday!" "I have some good news to make you forget about the Friday thing."

I look at Hiro with a blank face until he pulls something out from under my bed, I gasp and say "my hoverboard!" Hiro chuckles and nods. "Yeah, it surprisingly survived the fall from you falling on it" Hiro informs me, so I sigh and look out the window. It's starting to get dark "Hiro... I feel like I should say something" "you just did" Hiro jokes with a smirk. I roll my eyes saying "oh, ha ha, hilarious... but I'm serious, that was the closest I've ever come to dying. Well, one of the closest, there was also Weirdmageddon, but that's not my point right now."

The mention of Weirdmageddon confused Hiro, but I say "I could've really died back there... if it wasn't for you and Tadashi-" "(Y/n), it's fine. At least you're okay... despite the burn scar" I look Hiro in the eye, he's smiling warmly at me. 'Maybe him interrupting me was a sign not to tell him of that small crush' I think to myself. Giving him the same smile I say "yeah... you're right-" "(Y/n)?!" Fred says as he barged in. We jump at the sound of him bursting in, but he sees me and says "oh my god! You're okay!" He says and hugs me, I chuckle softly "yeah.. I am."
