Chapter 10: Unlocking The Mystery (Nate & Stefan POV)

(Nate POV)

A million thoughts had been swimming in my head prior to my meeting with Stefan. Some were meant to be kept to myself, while others were meant to be shared to release their burden on me. This meeting was set to remove some of that burden.

I literally left the police station a few hours ago, with a sense of hope within myself. But that hope soon disappeared to be replaced by confusion, followed immediately by a tense fear gradually building up inside of me.

Well you see, a year and a half after my escape, it seemed as though the police uncovered something. Apparently, Tasha had given them a photo...which turned out to be a crucial link to my kidnapping and perhaps even my family. They needed Tasha for interviewing and since I was the last person she was in contact with in the past month, they asked me to contact her.

But when it became clear that she did not respond, I sensed something suspicious. The police agreed to try and reach out to Tasha's group members in order to get in touch with her.

I was extremely concerned myself. Despite her schedules, Tasha would ALWAYS answer my calls those few times I called her. Somehow she saw me as an important clue to her search for her brother... So not hearing from her perhaps meant trouble...

I had contacted Stefan about the matter since he knew about our situations the best. He told me that Tiffany was away on tour with the rest of SNSD, but she would be informed later.

So upon entering the Korean BBQ place, I really was not expecting two things:

First, was seeing two strangely familiar girls seated together in the private room that Stefan told me to meet him at. Definitely they were from girl groups that I had listened to, but just not sure which ones.

Second...another boy was with them. And it took me a couple of seconds to realise...that he was Jinyoung; the person who saved me from getting attacked.

Somehow, an awkward atmosphere set in.

"Um...Annyeonghaseyo?" I finally spoke again. "Choneun Stefan chingu, Nate ibnida."

As I closed the door, Jinyoung immidiately shot up at me and asked, "Jakkanman...you know Stefan?"

"Wait wait..." Stefan interrupted. "You met Jinyoung already?!"

A series of confused bickering broke out between the three of us, but luckily the two girls stood up and calmed Stefan and Jinyoung down. Seriously, where had I seen them before and what were they doing here?

"Ok, before we carry on, I think we should introduce...ourselves," one of the girls spoke up.

"Please," Stefan gestured.

"Well, firstly, my name is Krystal," she spoke. "Annyeonghaseyo!"

"And my name is Yookyung," the other girl spoke immidiately after.

Right at that moment, a light bulb clicked in my head. No wonder they were so darn familiar! I was still in awe as an F(x) and Apink member were right in front of me. I think this year, I had gotten close to more idols than I usually would...

"Ah...ah...annyeonghaseyo..." I lost the will to talk normally now.

"Aigoo don't be so embarrassed~" Yookyung lightened the mood.

Once the greetings were settled, we could proceed to the main topic of concern. Stefan and Jinyoung had switched places with the girls so that we could discuss more easily. Krystal and Yookyung talked amongst themselves for the time being, but I knew it wouldn't be long before they would get dragged into our discussion.
