Chapter Forty-Four

Lilly

It is very quiet when we arrive in the forest. There is no sound of fighting whatsoever. In fact, the place looks very peaceful. However, the pain I felt was real and it can only mean that one of our members is injured.

"Can you see them?" I ask Lucas when he stopped on top of a tree. The leaves of this tree are very thick, making it perfect as a hiding place.

"Yes." He answers before placing me down on a thick branch. He put me in a sitting position with my back on the body of the tree. Then, Lucas leans close to me to whisper. "You wait here. Don't do anything, don't use your powers." His eyes are filled with seriousness so I just nod to tell me I understand.

"Don't worry, I will not allow them to be hurt." Lucas softly says. His face is very close to me. Before, this distance will make me uncomfortable. But now, I am already getting used to him being so close to me.

"I know." I whisper back. "Be careful." I add. And before I can stop myself, I grab his neck and place a kiss on his lips. The kiss came abruptly so it surprised Lucas. However, since this is Lucas we are talking about, he recovers quickly and softly kisses me back.

"Mm. That was very nice. Please do it again." Lucas murmurs as soon as our lips part. I feel his hot breath over my face. I just can't win over this guy.

"When you come back. Now go." I coax him to hurry. Lucas chuckles and gives me a quick peck before he jumps down from the tree. I saw a red barrier surrounding me as soon as he was gone. The surrounding seems to become a bit blurry because of the barrier so I think this is a barrier which hides my aura.

The tree where Lucas placed me is a tall one and even though I am completely hidden by the leaves, I can still see clearly what is happening below.

Just a few meters away from the tree is Lucas. He is standing still near a tree with his hand holding its trunk. Slowly, a red light comes from his hand until it moves to the tree and to the forest. Soon, everywhere is covered by the red light which moves like it's scanning the whole forest. Suddenly, Lucas moved. In just a fraction of a second, he is entirely gone.

Around five minutes later, Lucas returns. He is carrying Annie who is soaked in blood. He carefully lays her down before jumping back to get me. He carries me down and gives me a kiss on my forehead before crunching down to give Annie a pill. I remember that pill is the same one that he gave me when I was injured by Ron. It's a very effective pill. Sure enough, Annie's breathing stabilized after taking the pill.

Not long after, Tristan arrives with what looks like Annie's squad members. He looks bad. His hair is disheveled and his eyes are bloodshot. Around him is a very dark aura. It's very different to Tristan who was calmly eating dinner with us just a while ago. On the other hand, Annie's squad members are all in their wolf forms. They look exhausted.

"Annie." Tristan growls as soon as he sees the bloody girl lying on the floor. Soon, the dark aura around him seems to become denser and denser. He kneels on the ground as he badly trembles.

"She's healing. I gave her a pill and her condition is stable." Lucas says. However, it seems that Tristan didn't hear him. Lucas squints his eyes on Tristan and moves next to me to hold my hand.

"It's my fault. You were almost taken. You were almost made into a monster." Tristan shakily says.

"I was not able to protect you." Tristan's body trembles as he carefully touches Annie's hand.

Suddenly, my head starts to pound badly as my eyes darken.

"No! This can't be! I was not able to protect you!" I open my eyes and see a huge man who is wearing a big set of armor. He is kneeling on the floor while hugging the body of a small woman.Tears are streaming down his face as he shouts her name.

However, she won't answer no matter how much he shakes her up. I look at the girl's face and see her lifeless eyes.

Suddenly, the big guy turns his head to look at me. His expression turns from grieving to hope.

"Luna! Please help me. My wife she.. please help." He unwittingly utters as he looks at me. Maybe it is because of the intensity of his stare that I try to answer him.

"I- How may I help you?" He turns his body to me and carefully places the girl on the ground beside my feet before deeply bowing.

"If it's the Luna, I know that you can revive her." He seriously answers as he remains bowing.

Revive? How can I.. this girl's already gone.

'You can.' I hear a voice on my head. 'Share your lifeforce with her. She will be revived.'

Share my lifeforce? How do I do that?

I bens my knees to look at the girl and hesitantly put my hand over her forehead. Soon, I feel warm energy go through my hand and into the girl's head. I lift my hand when I feel very dizzy. I sit on the ground to recover my breath and look at the girl. To my surprise, I notice her slowly breathing. The big guy notices this too and immediately takes the girl into his embrace.

"Thank you! Thank you so much, Luna!" He emotionally cries as his whole body trembles. The girl in his embrace slowly opens her eyes to look warmly at the man before directing her gaze on me. Suddenly, I feel like a thunder strike my head.

I know that face.

Annie?

Then, the man who is holding her also turns to face me.

This..

Tristan?

"Thank you so much, Luna. Thank you for saving my wife. I would have died too if she were gone." The man who looks like Tristan tells me.

"Wife? But how could that happe-"

I start to ask him when whit light envelopes my sight. The light was very bright and it lasted for a few seconds. When it disappears, and I regain my eyesight, I see that I am already standing back in the familiar forest with Lucas worriedly looking at me.
