Chapter Sixty-Two

I promised Lucas I won't endanger myself. We will have to escape instead of fighting them. I tell Althea as I scan the area.

They manage to create an isolated area where the wind is scarce. Soon, I feel that the wind is becoming thin. If I stay long here, I won't be able to fight back.

They seem to have disassociated themselves with us. I add as I feel that I am not connected with the four councils anymore.

Black magic is imbued in their veins. Someone is controlling them -- Althea is unable to finish her sentence because the first elder suddenly sends his attack.

I will my wind to make a shield to defend me.

"Tsk. tsk. A queen indeed. This makes me happier. How powerful will you be once you're a "were-like?" The first elder sneers.

"First elder, we need to finish it fast." The second elder reminds him.

As if they previously agreed to it, all of them, except the fourth elder, surround me and shift into their wolves. I raise my hand high to collect wind energy and push it against them. Strong blades of wind attacked in four directions. However, the were-councils are deserving of their reputation. Even though they are pushed a few steps backward, they still managed to receive my attack.

Not giving me a moment to attack again, the four of them quickly formed a formation. Suddenly, a strong pressure coming from the land hit me. It feels like gravity is sucking me into the soil.

So they have someone with the power of the earth within them. And this power is multiplied because of the formation. They send countless attacks to me after activating the formation. I hurriedly avoid the attacks coming at me. However, I am prevented from moving as fast as I should because of the gravity.

I close my eyes and will the air to form multiple air spears and send them to the four. The council's formation almost breaks and they stop attacking me.

"This is harder than I expected. I didn't expect her to be able to fight like that despite the scarcity of the wind element." The first elder says as he chuckled. "Seems like we need to use that stuff."

This is bad. The wind energy is getting thinner and thinner. Althea says.

It's alright. I think he will make a move soon. I reply to her.

"I agree." The second elder says.

"Then, fourth elder, we leave it to you." The first elder states.

"Of course." The fourth elder nods. Suddenly, the fourth elder moved and fire elements started to come out from his body. It is not as strong as Lucas' but it is still a monstrous amount of energy.

"Be careful to keep her alive. We need to turn her into a weapon." The talkative first elder comments.

"Of course." The fourth elder says before he suddenly attacks.

I hear slashes of blood fall on the floor.

"You.."

The third elder managed to say before his chest exploded.

The second elder too has deep wounds on his chest, however, the first elder was able to pull him out.

The fourth elder stands in front of me in a protective stance.

"Luna, the barrier cannot be broken unless we cut down the first elder." The fourth elder says in a ragged voice. In his hands, black veins are coming out. It seems like he is fighting hard against the black magic within him.

"You traitor!" The first elder screams.

The fourth elder laughs menacingly. However, it seems like the black magic within him is acting up because he suddenly screams. It seems that the black magic starts to erode his veins when he fights back to gain control of his body. Amazingly, he starts to call his fire to fight the black energy. Soon they seem to be in a stand still.

"Useless." The first elder spits. Noticeably, the wound on the second elder begins to heal at a very fast rate.

The first elder takes the crystal from his neck and crushes it. Immediately, the scarce wind energy is sucked into the crushed crystal and evaporates.

We might be in trouble. Althea says as I try to stop the wind energy from being sucked into the crushed crystal.

I move before the crystal gathers the last of the wind energy and allow Althea to take control of my body as I turn into a wolf. We run into the first elder as fast as we can and bite his arm. We caught him unaware and dismembered his arm and threw it to the side.

The second elder was surprised but moved fast to attack me. However, I managed to dodge it.

As the first queen of the wolves, how is it possible that my wolf's power be so simple?

That was gross. Althea comments. Our attack made the two enemies stop their movements. Both of them are seriously injured so this is looking better for me. However, the young one behind me is starting to lose with his fight against the black magic. I should get the both of us out of this formation before the damage in his body becomes irreversible.

"Sh*t." The first elder spits. His blood is spraying out of the shoulder where his arm used to be attached. "This is way harder than we planned. We underestimated you. But you seem to have done the same to us." He sneers as I see his dismembered arms start growing back.

Thereafter, the first elder takes another crystal and smashes it. Soon, the black power from the dead body of the third elder is sucked into his body. Even the other living two elders seem to be giving power to him.

I feel that my feet are being dragged heavier by the earth. Soon, it's even becoming harder and harder to breath.

Gross! Althea screams in my head. Looks like we are in trouble again. She adds.

Suddenly, I feel a familiar presence which gives me a great sense of security.

"You are right. We underestimated you." I say as my body relaxes. "However, your mistake is not that you underestimated me." I smile. "It's that you underestimated him."

The space cracked right after we said that.
