Chapter 20

I laughed as T'Challa told me a story about his day, apparently the river tribe was upset with the border tribe for letting their giant rhinos had been pooping in their banks.

"I have missed that smile." He said we had been gone for a month now and we were both so busy we had to settle for only talking once a week so Fridays at 7pm Wakandan time we were kimoyo calling,

"I miss you too." I said softly and I did I missed everything about him his smile, his cologne, the warmth of his arms, the feel of my lips. I had to stop before I got too excited

"So where are you again?"

"Yugoslavia at lot of Hydra agents went back to their roots. I was hoping it would be somewhere warm.' I laughed

"You know it's warm year-round in Wakanda." He smirked

"You don't say." I teased Nat poked her head in

"Hey, we got to go." She said and I nodded

"Give me a minute." I told her

"Duty calls,"

"Always at the right time." I said sarcastically

"Be safe."

"I will, I got Sam watching my back."

"Again?"

"What does that mean?"

"He gets to watch your back a lot I'm not sure how I feel about that."

"Your highness are your jealous?

"Just a little bit." He said and I laughed

"Don't be jealous we are just friends, but I really have to go, same time next week?"

"It's a date sithandwa." He said then hung up before I could ask what that meant. I heard my door open Sam walked in and frowned as he looked at my beads

"I'm coming." I said pulling on my boots then I looked up at him and he still looked upset

"What's wrong with you?" I asked him

"Nothing you ready?"

"Yeah, are you sure you good?" I asked and he nodded then walked out I turned to grab my coat when he walked back in and shut the door behind him, and he walked over to me

"Sam- "I was cut off my him pressing his lips on mine, I was in shock for a about a second before I pushed him away and slapped him for good measure

"Are you fucking kidding me, have you lost your mind?" I snapped

"All this time and you can't see it?"

"No Sam I don't see you like that I see you like I see every other member of this team a friend." I told him and he scoffed

"You're going to choose the guy who got you arrested?"

"There's no choice here Sam, you can't just come in here drop this on me and expect me to feel the same."

"I know you've been through a lot I just wanted to step back and give you time, but I've always been here Ayesha."

"I hate to tell you this because you thought it was a good idea to step back somebody else stepped up, and I really like him." I told him and he shook his head I pulled on my coat

"Now we have a job to do can you focus, or do I need to get someone else to go with me?"

"So, it's like that?"

"You put it out there I responded, I can't help that you don't like the answer." I said then walked past him

"I'll get Wanda to go with me." I told him then left the room to find her then tomorrow I needed to talk to Steve about rearranging these partnerships.

We were loading the Hydra weapons onto our ship, after we took down the base the next morning. We didn't get any heavy hitters, but we did get a lead on Ulysses Klaue the arms dealer who gave Ultron the vibranium. He's been on the most wanted list longer than I've been alive, catching him would be huge. I walked on the ship and Steve walked over to me

"We just got a message from Rhodey."

"Is he ok why didn't he call me?" I asked

"He's fine but......t your grandfather."

"No."

"He's been in a really bad accident and is in critical condition."

"No, no, no. NO!" I slapped my hands on the table I felt the ground rumble

"What's going on?" Nat asked as she ran onto the ship with Sam not too far behind her

"I-I need to go, I got to get to him." I cried Steve hugged me

"I promise I'm going to get you there don't worry." He said in my ear

I sat in the back of a limo with Tony, there were two federal agents sitting across from us as one kneeled in front of me strapping on an ankle monitor

"Is this really necessary?"

"It was the only way I could get them to agree to let you come without arresting you on sight." Tony said I sighed and looked out the window as we pulled in front of New York Presbyterian the press was out in full force. They all wanted a glimpse of Storm never mind that my grandfather was one of the few senators that cared about his people, he's got many laws into power to help make things even for the working man

"Here." Tony said handing me a black hoodie and a pair of sunglasses

"Don't say I never got you anything." I rolled my eyes as I zipped up the hoodie and put the glasses on my face

"After you." He said then the door opened, and the flashing lights began, along with the screaming questions from every direction

'Storm how much jail time are you facing?'

'Where is Captain America?'

'Do all you mutants think you're above the law?'

'Why would you betray your country for James Barnes?'

We finally made it into the hospital

"You guys really need to tighten up security around here." Tony told the receptionist as we got on the elevator. We got off on the second floor, and right outside the waiting room I saw my uncle James he looked up at me then stood! I couldn't believe it I rushed over giving him the biggest him finally feeling like I was home
