It took me almost an hour to arrive at my school. Late na ako ng five minutes for my first class. At mabilis yata talaga ang karma, nang makita ko ang nakabusangot na mukha ng kinaiinisan kong instructor.
"You're late, Miss Vasquez," Mrs. Yañez snapped.
She was one of the terror instructors that we have here in Graduate school. Her angry overbearing attitude was her trademark, making her known even by the other Masters students from different departments.
Pero wala namang itulak kabigin sa pagtuturo nito, magaling talaga. Daig pa 'yong mga batikan na sa pagtuturo, since she's a freshly licensed and Registered Psychiatrist. Batang-bata pa, as far as I could remember she's only twenty-nine.
"I know, Ma'am," sagot ko na naging dahilan ng pagtaas ng kilay nito.
I saw how my classmates tried to contain their sniggers. Among all of us, I was the only one who had the guts to battle Mrs. Yañez's dreadful treatment. Hindi kasi talaga makatarungan. She's making use of her position to degrade students.
"And you should also know that I don't permit late comers to enter my class." She slammed her hands on the table. "You can see yourself outside this room. Now."
I strode my way to my seat, ignoring her remark.
"Miss Vasquez, do I have to repeat myself to you?" she said in a frightening tone.
"No, Ma'am." I smiled. "'Cause I believe you are aware of the rules enclosed in the University's handbook, stating that depriving a student's right to learn is grounds for termination. Not permitting a student to enter your class solely because of her five minutes tardiness, gives you no power to totally diminish her right to be educated.
Had I been tardy for consecutive meetings, I would have understood your outbursts and I will voluntarily report myself to the Office of Students Affairs. However, this only happened today, making your rule unjust and implausible." What I said caused her to tighten her composure as she gritted her teeth.
"Do I seem to care, Miss Vasquez?"
"With all due respect, Mrs. Yañez, but do I also seem to care that you don't?"
Napatikhim ito bigla at nagsimula nang magklase. Like Kael, I think she was trying to get even with me.
"Miss Vasquez, could you please tell me the paradigm of Freudian Theory, its primary assumption and goal." She lifted her head and looked at me with arrogance.
I stood straight from my chair and beamed at her. "The paradigm of Freudian Theory is psychoanalysis which has a primary assumption that the unconscious mind plays a big role in an individual's behavior much more than he or she speculates. It has a central idea that the mind is divided into conscious and unconscious, paving a way to its goal to make the unconscious conscious," I answered, equating her arrogance.
She looked taken aback, either because she failed to humiliate me in front of the class or it was the haughtiness that I dished as I answered her question. Whichever, she's the only person who knows the real reason.
