"Some think intuition is a gift, but it can be a curse as well--a voice calling to us from places that are better left unexplored...an echo of memories that will never die, no matter how hard we try to kill them."
The sound of her heels hitting the wooden floor were growing louder as she was getting closer to the dinning room, her trustee guarding following behind. He had his arms crossed over his chest, silent and stopped his tracks when Anne was right in front of us with a small file in her hands.
No one paid attention to her presence until she slammed the file on the table which brought all our heads to snap in her direction.
"Care to explain yourself Amelia?" My eyes drifted slowly towards Harry who was looking at me just as confused as the rest in the room.
"About...." I trailed off, mentally preparing myself for what she found to attack me with this time. However this one blew me by surprise, even I didn't expect it from her.
"About you past. When were you planning to tell my son of your little criminal activities, spending a few of your adolescent years in prison." She hissed, shooting daggers before her eyes softened when she faced her son who was reading the report that was slammed on the table.
"I told you Harry this girl was trouble. She even has a troublesome past, I knew there was nothing right about her." Gemma and Desmond were quite shocked by this revelation but I couldn't make out Harrys reaction. He was emotionless, lips in a straight line and reading the words on the documents.
"H-how did you even get them? They were meant to be hidden." My voice was much more shaky than I anticipated, Anne simply rolled her eyes at my voice. The taste of blood filled my mouth, but my teeth continued to clench on my bottom lips regardless. She thought I was playing an act and for once, I was surprised like everyone else of her discovery.
"Stop with your acting Amelia, my family finally know who yo-" before she could scream another word at me, Harrys voice rumbled through the dinning room, causing more tension to rise.
"Enough Mum! You haven't given her a chance to explain herself." And when those words left his lips, I felt all the comfort I needed. I knew whatever happened, he would always protect me.
Desmond and Gemma had nothing to say to the situation and kept quiet, letting the drama unfold.
"Harry are you listening to yourself? You're defending a criminal. She lied to you for weeks about her life, it's disgusting. She's manipulating you, she has been from the first day." The malicious tone in her face matched her facial expression. It was as if she had seen someone hit a child, the rage in her eyes increased as every second went by.
But when the word criminal left her lips, she wasn't the only one angry. All the flashback of the headlines of my mother clear in my head reminded me of her actions. Ironic how the same woman who committed one of the worse acts was calling me a criminal.
"I'm sick of this!" I screeched, standing up from my seats and soon enough my brown eyes were losing sight by the glossy layers of tears forming.
Everyone stayed completely silent by my random outburst, I usually composed myself around Anne so this behaviour wasn't normal for them.
I took a deep breath before controlling myself, trying to not sound shaky or make it obvious my heart beat was irregular. My hands were slightly shaking with the tension and all eyes on me.
"Yes, I do have a criminal record and went jail, it wasn't my proudest moment. I grew up without parents, I lost them both at the age of 8 and I was angry at the world. I never got to enjoy what most kids did my age, I lost two of the most important relationships in my life. It broke every part of me and I was only filled with loneliness and anger at the world for taking them away from. I didn't grow up being taught what was wrong or right so I did what I thought was right and rebelled. I suffered and so I wanted everyone else around me to suffer so yes I made stupid and silly mistakes during my teenage years."
