Chapter 41

I heard Kai, Leo, Enzo and Dana's voices around me. Kai was going mad with happiness, I think. I could not remember why. All of them sounded happy and I did not know why. I tried opening my eyes but in vain. They would not agree with my brain. And just like that I drifted back to my blissful sleep.

I tried opening my eyes after god knows how much time. The last two to three times I had failed miserably. I felt too weak to open them. Surprisingly, this time I was able to open my eyes this time. I had a sharp pain in my head due to the sudden brightness in the room but I blinked a few times until my eyes adjusted to it. I was in a hospital room. I saw Kai pacing around while talking to someone on the phone. I tried to sit up but I could not. Kai noticed my actions and turned to me.

He whipped around and cut the other person out by saying that he would call back later.

"About time you woke up." He came and kissed my forehead.

"Actually, I did try several times before. But I guess I fell asleep again. I feel a little tired." I tried getting up again, but when I could not, Kai helped me up.

Then he told me what exactly had happened after I passed out. I had been in the hospital for two days. Enzo had been shot too but he recovered pretty fast. They called Jamie several times but she didn't answer. That's how they discovered she was dead. They had froze Jamie's body and it was my decision what to do.

"I am so fucking proud of you." He kissed me. "And angry too. What you did was dangerous not to mention incredibly stupid. Not that I know what exactly happened. But happiness overshadows my anger this time."

"I will tell all of you when we get back home. We'll have some story time. You know I love some adventure." I winked at him. "Oh no!" I exclaimed remembering Kai's birthday.

"What is today's date?" I asked.

"22 May" he smiled.

"Happy Birthday Kai!" I hugged him. Well tried to. There were still some needles inside me.

"Thank you."

"I wanted to present you Colton's dead body as a birthday gift. When I couldn't think of a gift to buy you and found out that Jamie was murdered by Colton, I had found the perfect present for you. I just had a mental debate about whether or not to present his head in a silver platter. But now I have nothing to give to you other than some random stuff I bought." I frowned.

"No worries. I got a way better gift" He placed a hand on my tummy.

"What?" I was confused.

"You are pregnant! Five to six weeks." he sounded so happy.

I was so happy that I could not find the words. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it and did it again. I must have looked like a goldfish. Then I just smiled which then turned into a happy laughter. And before we knew, Kai and I were laughing hysterically.

"Did the both of you go mad?" Carter entered. Both of us stopped laughing.

"Hi Carter" I greeted him.

"How are you feeling, sis?"

"Great."

"Congrats for the pregnancy. I am going to be an uncle! And I am so proud of you for killing the devil." 

"Thanks" I smiled. I was so grateful for having all of them. More than they ever knew.

"Where are mom and dad?" I asked.

"I sent them home. Mom was really worried. She wouldn't listen when I told her they were just infected wounds and that you will recover. We have not yet told mom and dad about the pregnancy."

"And where are Enzo and Dana?" I asked Kai.

"They went to drop Leo and Lexi to the mansion. Both of them were here for a while. You will be getting discharge tomorrow morning and then we will return back home. Until then, I'll sleep beside you." he said making me move aside and laid down beside me.

This was all I could ask for in my life. A husband whom I loved more than anything in the world, great family, caring friends and now I will be having a baby. Everything was just perfect.
