Someone from All Time Low is adopting. There's a thought to get used to. One thing I learned is that don't look forward to anything. So when it doesn't happen, you won't be disappointed. Which means to not even consider the possibility of being adopted by one of them. As usual, I know and I can accept that.I notice Jack looking at all the kids here. I have a feeling it's him who is adopting. Good luck, Jack.
That's when I take notice of Ember beside me. I forget that she is a huge fangirl-type of girl. I mean don't get me wrong, I am in love with All Time Low, like their music. But I don't fangirl. They're regular people. It'd be weird to fangirl over a hotdog, why fangirl over a person (although some people may fangirl over hotdogs, I guess)?
Ember, on the other hand, looks like she is going to burst. I grin as I see her with her head in her hands, face as red as a tomato. I hold her shoulder and she looks at me. She looks like she wants to cry. Probably from both happiness and trying to contain her excitement. I'm not sure.
While smiling, I lean to her ear. "One trick is to go upstairs. Hold your pillow closely against your face. Don't suffocate. Scream as loud as you can. Compose yourself and come back down," she nods at my words and quickly runs up the stairs. I never actually expected her to listen to me.
Everyone looks at me with curiosity. "She'll be back," I shrug. It's no big deal.
Miss Marie claps her hand together. "Alright! Well. As some of you may have noticed, one of these boys are going to be adopting one of you," she pauses for dramatic effect. "But I won't tell you who. As said before, they are in a band called All Time Low."
I see the huge smiles and claps erupt from the girls. I roll my eyes. What idiots. From the corner of my eyes, I notice Ember come back. She looks totally comfortable, no sign of the fangirl screaming that previously happened. Totally composed, as if she simply went upstairs to get her phone.
She sat beside me again, and gave me a grin. "Thanks," she whispered. I just nod.
Someone clears their throat. All heads turn to the men on the sofa in front of us.
"Um, hi guys. My name is Rian, this dude here is Zack, the one with weird hair is Jack, and lastly that dork is Alex," he said, pointing to each guy in turn.
"Hey! My hair is perfect, thank you," Jack interrupts. I smile at him, as that is a typical thing he would say.
"We know who you guys are! You're famous," one of the girls giggle. Jesus christ, someone get me something to hit her with.
I literally smack my forehead - or face palm, whatever - a little loudly, so I notice Alex staring at me. I smile, and turn away. I feel a bit awkward. I managed to smack myself and have Alex notice. Just my luck. Why do people only notice me in the worst of moments?
"Okay guys, one by one do your thing," Miss Marie says.
One girl, Katie, stands up. She walks to Alex, and shakes his hand. Then Jack, Rian, and Zack. After, she smiles. "Hi! My name is Katie. I love your music. It sounds so great! Backseat Serenade is my favorite. That's all!" She quickly finished and rushed back to her seat. I see the blush on her face, as well as the smirk she sent in my direction.
I chuckle and Ember does the same. I hold up three fingers, and Ember holds up only two. Five is the highest you can go, for our scale of how much of a kiss-ass you are. I think three for her was accurate. She could have at least been less obvious.
"Lexi! Ember!"
Our heads snap up at Miss Marie, who called us.
"Hush!" she scolds.
