24 Floors by The Maine blasted through my earbuds as I sat inside of the venue, blankly watching All Time Low as they do their soundcheck. The tour has been going on for a while, I've grown used to their routines and what they do every day. I've started to become bored watching it every day, but Alex wouldn't let me hang around outside often, he likes keeping me in eye-sight. It's so boring without any other teenagers around. There's one girl, Jenna from Tonight Alive, but that's all I have. Even then she's always busy, so it's usually me hanging around watching everyone scramble to prepare for the days' events.
I let out a loud sigh and lean my head back.
Tomorrow may not come again, tonight is all there is
Life's too short to sit here doing absolutely nothing every day. Tour is more boring than I thought it'd be - for the guys, it's more busy and filled with things to do but I'm only a 'kid' and there isn't much to help with. At most, Alex lets me help with setting up merch. That's it. I've finished all my schoolwork that I was supposed to space out over the next couple weeks until the tour ends, so now I don't even have homework to do. Instead, I'll go out and talk to the other kids in line. Screw the rules.
I yank my earbuds out during my quick pace outside and join some fans in line who waved me over. I sat down on the pavement beside them. "Sup, fellas," I smile at them.
"Hi!! Wow I can't believe you're out here!! All Time Low never comes outside so we don't get to meet them," one of the girls, with pretty blonde hair, exclaims.
I shrug. "Yeah, they're super busy trying to get everything ready. I'm not even supposed to be out here, but I've been hanging with them every single day of tour with no other kids around. I needed some socialization time."
Some of the people in line laughed. A girl with straight, black hair gave me a look and said, "Who even are you? And why are you cutting in line? I'll have them send you to the back."
"Oh you know, just a devoted fan who doesn't wanna wait in line all day," I chuckle. I know I'm being an ass but I don't care. I don't like the look she gave me. I never thought I'd be THAT person who sounds entitled, even for a joke. The whole sentence felt weird rolling off my tongue.
"Go to the back of the line! It's not fair to just cut ahead of us all!"
I raise my hands up in defeat. "Hey, hey. I'll be leaving in a few, don't worry. Actually anytime now I'll be forced to leave anyway," I shrugged. She gave me another glare and didn't respond.
The blonde girl smiles at me again. "She doesn't know who you are, I guess."
"I don't expect people to recognize me, I'm not in the band or anything. It's actually weird to me that some people do. Well, not weird, but a little... strange."
No more than two seconds after I finish that sentence, I hear screaming. Knowing this means I have to leave, I lean back once more and roll my eyes. It was nice for the couple minutes while it lasted.
"Jack! Jack! Can you sign this? Can I get a picture with you?" Questions flood from all around as people begin to stand.
I hear Jack's soft laugh. "Sorry guys, just coming to collect the kid. Behind schedule a little today, but see you guys later!"
Jack made it to me in the midst of him trying to hold people back. Thankfully we were in a smaller city, people were more respectful and gave him the space he needed to reach me. He eventually made it to me and gave me a soft look of concern. "I was bored," I told him.
The girl with the black hair muttered something under her breath, and I just rolled my eyes at her too. Jack motions for me to get up and I sigh. He wraps his arm over my shoulder and we head back inside. "Come on, why couldn't I stay out there? I'm trying to make friends, something Alex encouraged up until we left for tour. This isn't fair," I pout.
