Part 17 Emma

Lili's POV
With my heart beating out of my chest, I made my way to Emma's room. With a fake smile on my face. I stood outside her door with fear, what would she say! I knocked on the door, and not even thirty seconds later she opened it.

"Lili" she said with a smile I could tell was fake. When did she change? Even more, what changed her! "Hi Emma" I said she grabbed my hand and pulled me to her bed. "What is so urgent that you needed me here right away"

I asked confused. "Okay" she started with no smile. Oh no! "I know you heard me and Prince Cole last night" she said my heart dropped. Oh nooooo. I looked down speechless. "I meant what I said" she said coldly. I definitely wasn't expecting her to say that!! She literally just told me she thinks I'm a terrible, ugly person to my face.

"I thought you didn't even like prince Cole why all the sudden change" I asked angry but more confused. "At first I was telling the truth, I did love someone back home. Well that was until they sent me a letter telling me how much they hate me for joining this and never to talk to them again"

She said with tears in her eyes. "So after one good look at prince I realized how blind I've been. He is so handsome. But he likes you not me." She continued rolling her eyes. "So I figured if I make him hate you, he'll like me. If you tell one soul what you heard I will frame you into situation where they have no choice but to send you home!" she said with an evil grin.

"And don't worry lili, this is just the beginning" she said smiling evilly. What the hell is wrong with her. "Ok" is all I said, to make her mad, make her feel like I don't care even though I want to slap her I got up and walked to the door.

"I hope you know you will never be good enough for him, he'd be a clown to like you" she said as I opened the door. I was hurt. She was my friend! Just saying awful things to me. I smiled at her before closing the door not giving her the satisfaction of my anger.

I made my way back to my room with tears in my eyes. What I had I done to make everyone hate me so much! Once I got back to my room. No one was in there, but there was a note on my bed that read :

I smiled at what I'd just read. Maybe he did care about me as much as he let on. I went to my desk and grabbed a paper to write the letter. I first started off by thanking him for caring about me, and checking in, then I went on with what happened,

Basically saying how she knows I was there and that she likes you now, but I didn't really mention the "threats" as much, since I didn't want him to spend all of his time protecting me from this silly threat that obviously won't happen.

Once I was done writing, I finished with my sign at the bottom and folded it up before asking a guard to bring it to Cole. By now it was lunch time so I headed to lunch much  more nervous than I was for breakfast, considering of what just happened to Emma.

I know I shouldn't be "scared" of her. But I really don't want to leave nor do I want her to convince Cole not to like me and succeeding. When I got there madelaine was already there so I just sat by her.

I am surprised usually she picks seats in the middle, but today she sat at one of the closet to the royal family. "Hey mads" I said sitting down. She looked at me and smiled. "Hi lili" she said happily. "Why such a change in seating" I asked curiously. She laughed.

"Well first of all I wanted to try something new, second I just feel like I need to start trying harder you know? I feel like I am putting in minimum effort to this whole thing" she explained. I giggled and nodded. "That's understandable" I said smiling

She nodded as the royal family entered. I wasn't too focused on them but when I looked at the king when he gave our meals his "blessing" he was looking directly at me. Like eye contact!

I smiled as I kept eye contact and he finished the whole thing. I didn't want to seem weak, as weird as that sounds. Once I sat down I broke eye contact and took a sip of the water that was in front of me.

Soon food was served, and it was great as always. I had a few more conversations with madelaine before we were dismissed. We had a history lesson in forty five minutes, and gosh was i dreading it.

We have only had one of each class before, but it's still enough for me to know I do NOT like them. Before our lesson I just hung out in my room writing in my diary. Once it was time for our lesson I went.

No POV
The lesson went pretty well, and the rest of the day lili didn't really do anything. She went to dinner, ate them left only saying a few words mostly confused of what had happened today, everything with Emma and Cole, and wondering if She could trust madelaine that she wouldn't betray her like Emma did, but also confused on why the king was looking at her. Did it have a purpose? Was it just random? Does he not like me? Questions ran through her head as she laid in her bed, scared for what tomorrow would hold, hoping it would be a little better than today.

Hi! Sorry I am posting this a little later than usual, I usually post it before school, but I can't go till we know her results so I got to sleep in!
