"I'll see you later," I told Sophia, coming out of Mr Charlie's classroom. She nodded, arm in arm with Ben.

"Ok. Have fun," She told me. I rolled my eyes and walked off.

"Hey, sweetheart," A familiar voice said. I walked out and nearly slapped Ollie as he grabbed my arm. I gritted my teeth and turned round, smiling sweetly.

"Oh! Hey, Ollie. How are you?" I asked him. He frowned as if he knew I was acting. He smiled again though.

"I'm fine. Let us go to the rugby field." He told me, dragging me that way. I bristled and wriggled out of his grip. No one ordered me about. No one.

"I'm going to the library." I told him, walking off." Alone!" I added as his footsteps followed me. They stopped and I sped down the hall to the library.

I hadn't been to the library but there were signs indicating that it was down this corridor.

I stumbled. Strange. There was nothing to stumble on. Did I imagine it?

I shook my head, sighing. I turned into the library and gasped with delight. The bookcases were all oak. A red carpet ran all over the library. The lights were like fairy lights and there were armchairs in every section.

"Can I help you?" A woman asked at the librarian's desk. Her grey hair was straw like and had been pulled into a tight bun.

"Yeah. Where are the fantasy books? The ones about shifters and vampires." I asked her. She smiled. At least, I think she did. It was so quick that I might have imagined it.

"Section B4." She said. At my clueless stare she said." 3 rows on the right. Turn right and you've arrived."

I nodded and smiled before leaving.

"Blair Axton." I told her, holding out my hand. She eyed my gold ring with a small emerald in the middle. Then, her eyes met mine as she took my hand.

" I know. Ms Carp." She said, shaking my hand. I released but her long, bony fingers gripped my hand. Hard.

"You're hurting me, Ms Carp." I said. She didn't move. I screamed at the pain. I'm pretty sure that she just broke my hand.

"They will come! You will run! You will trust! You will love! They will rise!" She shouted. Her voice wasn't her own. It was low and deep. A man's voice.

I dropped to the ground and my wrist slid out of Miss Carp's hand.

That snapped Ms Carp out of her trance.

"Go sit in section B4. I'll get Nurse Axton." She replied, walking off. She didn't even apologise. When I was sure that she was gone, I shouted "Way to be creepy!"

What did she mean? You will trust? You will love? They will rise?

None of it made sense.

Two people came out of section B4. Ronan and a girl with a pixie cut and sky blue eyes.

"Who's being creepy, cuz?" Ronan asked, reaching the desk. I nearly laughed. I jerked my head at Ms Carp's chair.

"Ms Carp. I think she broke my hand. She gripped on and wouldn't let go. She kept applying pressure." I told him. I shook my other hand, checking that she hadn't done anything else.

"Ms Carp wouldn't do that." The girl told me. I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Tell that to my hand, Chocolate." I said. Her eyebrows raised and then minimised to slits.

"What did you just call me?" She asked. I could sense her anger. I should probably stop but, well, I could be a bitch sometimes.

"I called you 'Chocolate'. Maybe you need to get your ears checked." I told her, looking at my nails. I was completely uninterested.

"Thanks, grass." She retorted. I burst out laughing, ignoring Ronan. He looked so awkward.

"That's the best you could come up with? At least, mine made sense." I told her. I looked at an uneasy Ronan." Who's this?" I asked him. He took an audible gulp.

"This is Charlotte, my girlfriend. Charlotte, this is Blair. My cousin." He told us both. We looked at each other and then at Ronan.

"What?" We screeched. If I wasn't so mortified and I actually liked Charlotte, I would have laughed at our unison. Ronan shrugged.

"Yup." He said. I rolled my eyes as the nurse came in.

Aunt Jodie checked my hand and confirmed it was broken. She put my hand in a cast and then left.

"Well, I need to go. See you round, Ronan." I told my cousin. Charlotte gaped.

"And me?" She asked. I nearly rolled my eyes. She was ridiculous. What did Ronan see in her?

"I'll wish to never see you again." I replied walking to my room.

I needed to change before going to the mainland.

A few hours later, I said goodbye to Sophia and headed down the stairs in my black t-shirt and jeans. I paired it with black boots.

I didn't think this was a date or anything but I needed to look older to buy alcohol. Also, Uncle Julian did not think about that. How were 2 18 year olds supposed to buy wine?

My uncle was never good at long term planning though. I reached the oak door and bumped into Lucas. He wore a t shirt and jeans. My cheeks heated. It might not be a date but we both looked smoking. If I do say so myself.

Lucas opened the door and I went through first.

"How are we supposed to go out? Uncle Julian only mentioned you going to the mainland. Not me." I told Lucas. He smirked at me.

"I know what I'm doing." He answered as we walked nearer to the gate.

Lucas slung an arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. I was started but I kind of liked it. I wanted to cuddle into him. He nodded at Graham, who opened the gate.

"Have a good night kids. Only kissing. That's my one rule and that you need to be back before 2am." Graham told us. Oh my god. Graham thought we were dating. Uncle Julian needed better security.

When we were out of Graham's sight, Lucas let his arm come back to his side. I was kind of sad.

We wandered through the woods in silence. It was super awkward. The only time that I felt this awkward was...was... my trial. My heart started beating rapidly and I grabbed the closest tree.

My breathing became shallow. I wanted to stop and take deep breaths but I couldn't. I was too caught up. I sensed Lucas carrying on but I was plunged into memory.

"What the hell are you doing, Blair?" Bella asked as I got into dad's new hyundai. I shrugged as she got into the passenger seat.

"Hudson gave me a dare. I never back away from a dare, Bella. You should know that by now." I told her. I put the keys in the ignition and drove off.

"Want some music?" I asked Bella. She shook her head and I turned on a radio station. It was playing 'Shameless'. I turned it up louder but Bella was still grumpy.

"Stop being so grumpy!" I shouted at her. She glared at me.

"I would if you could actually listen to mum and dad. You're going to get us killed-" she started, before shouting." Blair! Watch out!"

I looked at the road as we collided into the other car. I blacked out.

When I woke up, the car was upset down. I unbuckled my seatbelt and was careful not to land on any glass. I unbuckled Bella and carried out. I put her on the road to check for breathing. She wasn't breathing.
