The words hit me like a freight train. If Lucas's arm wasn't around my shoulders, I would have stumbled back.

Just as my knees started buckling, Lucas removed his arm from my shoulders and put in round my waist. I didn't mind and neither did my wolf.

Lucas pulled my closer and I clung onto him.

The tears were heart wrenching. Every time I sobbed, Lucas frowned.

"I'm sorry, Blair. I just-" Aunt Jodie said. I whipped round, tears still round my face. Lucas kept his arm round my waist as if he was scared of letting me go.

"Go away! I don't want to listen to you! Seeing you reminds me of everything that I lost!" I screamed at her. She flinched and stepped back.

I turned back round to everyone else.

"All of you! Go away!" I shouted at them. They all opened their mouths to protest but I didn't let them." The best thing you can do right now is leave." I said. Sophia, Ben, Aunt Jodie and Jacob nodded, shuffling out of the room.

"Didn't you here? Go away!" I screamed at Lucas, pushing his arm off my waist. I walked over to the door and held it open.

"Hey! That's not fair and you know it, Blair. Remember what I said earlier." He said. Damn idiot was right. I stalked over to him.

"I can't, Lucas. Don't you understand. I can't become dependant on someone. This is my stuff. I need to deal with it." I said. My voice started cracking and Lucas was frowning again.

"Look. You don't have to. Just this one time. I just want you to accept someone's comfort one time. Just this once." He said. I sighed. He was right, I couldn't escape from it.

"Fine. Why now though?" I asked him. He frowned like he didn't know. Sure, you don't.

"Now what?" He answered. I sighed. Let's play a game. Answer questions with more questions.

"Why are you being nice now?" I asked, intrigued. As far as I knew, Lucas hated me and Jamila loved Lucas. She was being a damn tramp at the moment though.

"It's hard to explain." He answered. My whole life's hard buddy. I've just lost my father and he thinks his life is hard.

"We've got time." I told him. He sighed.

"Blair, I-" he started but Sophia came in.

"stop dawdling!" She shouted. Lucas nodded.

"Has she agreed to be part of the pack?" Ben asked. I shook my head.

"What's that?"

"Oh, it's when Lucas shares his blood with you. You are then part of the pack. We'll be able to sense you." Ben explained, holding up his palm to show a 5cm scar.

"Do it." I told Lucas. He looked uneasy.

"Are you sure?" I nodded. I hadn't been sure of many things in my life but I needed a pack. Jamila needed it, even if the rest of the pack weren't lions.

"Ben's my beta and Jacob's my enforcer. You'll just be a member of the pack. You only become an enforcer if you protect another pack mate in a fight or battle." Lucas said. That made sense.

He took a knife out of his breast pocket and cut his palm. I took the knife and cut a 7cm line on my left palm. I nodded at the pain.

"I have to before it heals." Lucas explained as he put his palm on my mind and entwined our fingers. Lucas's eyes flashed yellow and I'm pretty sure mine flashed orange. That's when I felt it. A cool, fresh feeling. Lucas. It was accompanied by a calm presence, Ben and a cheery presence, Jacob. Pack, My wolf said.

"Ready to get the details?" I asked him. He nodded.

A few minutes later, we were all seated in Uncle Julian's office.

Mostly everyone was looking at me and the way the Lucas's arm was draped over my shoulder.

"How did he die, Uncle Julian?" I asked. Uncle Julian exhaled, slowly.

"Someone slit his throat." Uncle Julian replied. Tears pricked at my eye as I covered my mouth. Blood trickled onto my skin, the wound still open. Lucas informed me that it wouldn't heal for an hour after his blood had been mixed with it.

"Blair, your father had a dangerous job. As a member of parliament, he had lots of enemies. Someone must had wanted his job. It was assassination." Uncle Julian confirmed. Lucas squeezed my knee.

You okay? Remember confide in someone. He said.

Yeah. I just....this is awful.

I know. You'll get through it.

I nodded.

"Have they caught the assassin?" I asked. Uncle Julian shook his head.

"No but we found out some interesting information." Aunt Jodie said, passing me a folder. It contained pictures of me and Bella as children. It had all our information.

"You and Bella weren't our nieces, Blair. You never were. Hugh and Marianne never had children. You were adopted."
