"you're screwed." Sophia concluded, closing the book. Jacob and Ben nodded and I paced, angrily.
"Define 'screwed'." Blair asked them. Sophia sighed and Ben, Jacob and me sat on the surrounding chairs that made a circle.
"Well, due to your bite." Sophia said, pointing to her left forearm." You will turn into a shifter. The same species as the one who bit you is."
Ben and Jacob groaned as I scowled. I was turning her into a shifter. She could die...she could.
I wanted to rip something apart or grab Blair and lock her in tower. She wouldn't get hurt that way but she'd never let my do that.
Why was I even thinking that? I mentally slapped myself. I was purely responsible for this mess. That was probably why I felt so protective.
"So, I'll be a wolf?" Blair asked. I sighed, running a hand through my ebony hair.
I didn't want to answer any of her questions. I didn't want to hear the answers. I wanted to disappear.
"When will I turn?" She asked. That question had been at the front of mind when I knew what the bite meant.
I didn't want it to happen too late or too soon. Scratch that, I didn't want it to happen at all.
Sophia opened the book again and found the page.
"The 'infected' will turn during their first 24 hours of being bitten. During those 24 hours, the 'infected' will be rash and angry as the animal gets used to the human vessel. The first turn will be agonising for the 'infected' and could resolve in death if the 'infected' isn't strong, mentally. They will be gifted powers like most shifters." Sophia read.
She could die! I could be the cause of her death.
I saw Blair took deep breaths to calm down and Sophia noticed as well. She grabbed her hand and squeezed.
I used to do that when Maeve was scared. She'd be so disappointed now. She was always leading me on a good path.
"It says could. You're have the strongest mentality of anyone I know, other than any shifters. You won't die. We won't let you." I told her. She blushed and thanked me as Jacob came over and sat in the armchair next to me. I growled at how close he was to her.
"Shut up, wolf boy! You do realise this is your fault?" She asked me. I sighed and sulked in my chair.
"I'm gonna be a monster," she murmured to herself. I heard though and raced over to her. I crouched down and looked up at her. She leaned down. Our face were inches apart and her breath tickled my face.
"No. You'll never be a monster." I whispered. Her lips parted and I noticed as my gaze fall to her lips.
"You guys realise that we needs to return to lessons now? Mr Axton only gave us 3 hours off." Ben said, interrupting the moment.
I wanted to hit him. Why was I thinking about kissing her?
She turned away from me, flushed. She went to get my bag as Sophia laughed.
I went to get my bag too.
"Mr Axton gave us the whole day off!" She shouted. Ben looked sheepish and we all burst out laughing. All except Jacob. He was just scowling at me.
"We should go to lessons though. It was the promise I made to my father. If I reject that.....well, I better learn to fight. Juvie won't be cupcakes and rainbows. Not that Métamorphe academy is." She protested. Damn. That sounded so bad.
I came over to her with my satchel.
"Then, you won't miss another lesson. Let's head to geography." Jacob told her, holding out his hand. She took it and walked to geography. I overheard Ben before we left though.
"Lucas will kill Jacob."
He was damn right! The flirt was going to get what was coming to him.
