First day after Jakob left. Halos hindi mapigtas ang ngiti ni Lucy nang mabungaran ang mga sweet messages ng nobyo sa cellphone. Mabilis niyang sinagot ang cellphone ng tumawag ang binata.
“Good morning, hon. I miss you.” Bungad nito sa kanya na siyang ikinangiti niya.
“Hahahaha. Sira. Parang magkasama pa tayo kahapon. Kumain ka na ba? And please no more beers”
“Yes, ma’am. Copy. I had an early meeting later. I’ll call you tonight. Please don’t overworked yourself. I love you.”
“I love you too, hon. Keep safe. Okay?”
“Copy, hon.”
Second day… Wala man si Jakob ay hindi siya pinababayaan ng binata na talagang inabala pa ang assistant nito para sunduin lamang siya sa trabaho. Ayaw pa nga sana niya dahil kalabisan na iyon para kay Rick pero talagang determinado ang nobyo na ipahatid siya.
“Hon? Did my assistant drive you home?”
“A-huh. Pero next time pwede bang huwag na? Nakakahiya kay Rick eh. Inabala mo pa iyong tao. Sanay naman akong mag-commute.”

“Aist, huwag mo na nga akong kaisipin dito. Teka, na sa meeting ka pa ba? Bakit parang may nagsasalita?”

“Okay. Please take some rest baka magkasakit ka diyan.”
“Yeah. Coming. Wait? Come again, hon?”
“Sabi ko magpahinga ka rin. Sige na. Mukhang magsisimula na kayo ulit.”

Third day…Mukhang seryoso talaga ang pinuntahan ng nobyo niya sa Singapore dahil maging si Attorney Ray ay lumipad pa-Singapore. Nag-aalala man sa binata ay kailangan niyang suportahan ito sa napiling propesyon gaano man ka-stress at kadelikado iyon.
“Hon?”

“Okay naman. medyo marami lang ang customer pero keri naman. Ikaw? Ayos ka lang ba diyan?”

Hindi pa man niya natatapos ang sasabihin ay namatay na agad ang tawag. Napabuntong hininga siya saka inilapat likod sa malambot na kama.
Lucy stayed late that night to wait for Jakob’s call but morning came he didn’t call her back.
