Zach and Amelia were now sitting in the restaurant dining room, both conscious of their own feelings than of the other. But, now it was more than that which made Amelia feel alert.
Zach was watching her as her eyes wandered around the restaurant's dining room. It was not too crowded, but almost most of the tables were filled. She had no idea why, but she had this feeling that she was being watched upon. The thought made her uncomfortable and she tried to look around to see if her instincts were right but she didn't see anyone.
"What is wrong? Your face looks pale suddenly," Zach asked, worrying if she is feeling okay and it's nothing to do with her pregnancy. That she might have got upset by something he has said or his holding her hand. Or, it's because of what his Gran has said to him. Rachel had warned him against taking her out for so long as she was concerned about her pregnancy. But, he said it's just for one night and they won't be out too late. Now, he wondered if he made a mistake by bringing her out in such cold weather.
"Nothing, really,“ she answered.
"Amelia, if there is something wrong, you can tell me. You're feeling fine or should I take you home?"
"Zach, I really am fine. Nothing is wrong with my health or pregnancy," She assured. He nods, but watching the seriousness of his expression, she added, "You must not worry too much about my pregnancy, Zach. It makes me feel guilty to see you so worried about it always."
"You and the baby is my responsibility now and I like to be concerned about..." He wanted to say 'what I consider mine' instead said..."things I'm responsible for" because he didn't want to make her feel more uncomfortable than she already appears to be.
Amelia was touched by what he had said. She respects him for keeping his words and taking care of them, but something inside made her flinch. It was the word "responsible" that made her feel like he has been burdened by this unasked for responsibilities. Though she kept quiet about it.
"If it's not your health then what makes you so uncomfortable?" He questioned. He began to think it was something to do with what he had said or his holding her hand.
She knew Zach will not be satisfied unless she tells him, “I don't know for sure, but I am feeling that I'm being watched upon."
Zach laughed softly and said, "That's all?" And then watching her eyes going narrow at him, he surveyed around and added, “C’mon Amelia, everyone is so busy on their own. You are out after months; maybe that's why you're feeling so conscious."
"Maybe" She said and looked at the menu which was placed on the table.
"I think it's just it." He ordered mock tails for them and after the waiter was gone, he began talking about books, to divert her mind from whatever was bothering her.
"Book hmm..." He drawled as if reconsidering and said, "I still don't believe that you couldn't ask yourself for a book from me. I wouldn't have killed you, if you had, you know." He teased.
"I'm quite sure that you wouldn't, but how could I asked you for anything when you were not even talking to me." She flung back with a gleam in her eyes.
