Miji was born on the 13th of March, 1997. She was 16 years old when she died.
Miji was the eldest child, and resembled her mother since birth. She loved asking questions like 'what are clouds? Why are tissues called tissues?' Miji spent her school breaks volunteering for charities in the Phillipines. She had a strong sense of responsibility, and was chosen as the class leader during her second year. She aspired to become a surgeon.
Miji was helping her classmates out during the sinking along with Yeeun Kim. Thanks to their efforts, class 1 had the most survivors. Unfortunately, when Miji was guiding two students out, they didn't get a chance to pull her to the deck, when saw her being washed down the hallway by the incoming water. She was hailed as a hero, a young girl who sacrificed herself for others.
Her body was recovered and returned to her parents. She now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park.
