Dongjin Seo was born on the 12th of June, 1997. He was 16 when he died.

Dongjin was an only child, and the first grandchild to his grandparents. Because he had no siblings, he received lots of love and affection from both his parents and grandparents alike. Dongjin was described as tall and handsome, (just like his father), playful, humorous and caring. He had a lot of friends, but his best friend was a girl living next door. He had liked music from a young age, and worked two part-time jobs so he could get to a music academy. Dongjin loved to play the guitar, and he played drums at the band club. He wished to save more money so he could also attend a dance school and a singing school. Dongjin's ultimate dream was to become a singer and a songwriter.

The day of the trip, Dongjin went to say goodbye to the girl next door. She had just returned from her own field trip, and she promised to make him lunch after he returns from the trip. The hospital where his body was kept had a plate delivered there, for Dongjin. She remembers him by picking one spring flower and placing it next to the Dongjin's house's mailbox. Dongjin's phone was retrieved and the footage was recovered. In the video, he is seen laughing and joking around with his friends, but they seem scared and very aware of the situation. At the time of recording, the ferry had tilted 45 degrees.

His body was recovered and returned to his parents. He now rests at Ansan Sky Memorial
