Hongrae Park (Class 5)

Hongrae Park was born on the 23th of November, 1997. He was 16 when he died.

Hongrae was the youngest child of his family. He adored both of his parents, and baked them a cake every year during their wedding anniversary or birthdays. His best friends were Inbae Park, Kangmyeong Lee and Jungsik Moon. Hongrae loved sports, and so did his brother, Hyung. He was supposed to have a tournament in May, and he was practicing hard. His ultimate dream was to become a professional martial artist.

During the sinking, Hongrae called his mother. He told her that he is wearing a life jacket and waiting for rescue. Minutes later, she gets a message from him in Kakaotalk. ''Hyung, it's scary here. Save me!''
In May, his brother had the tournament and won, keeping his promise.
Hongrae's family moved out a month after the sinking. While they were decorating their new home, a bird flew to the window. Hongrae's mother tried to make it go away, but it stayed there, chirping. It eventually flew inside, and that's when she realised it. It might be Hongrae, but reborn as a bird.

His body was recovered without a life jacket and returned to his parents. He now rests at Hwaseong Sky Memorial Park.
