Playing Sallie's Game
Sallie McClain placed her hands on her large belly with a grin.
Jacob really longed for some gin.

Jacob's eyes grew wide,
"No way in hell is that kid mine!
I haven't even seen you in two years' time!
No damn way you're pinning that kid on me.
Leave town Sallie and find it's real daddy!"
Mary Sue could only laugh and shake her head
She was glad it wasn't her in Sallie's stead.
As she made for the door, Jacob swore.
"I guess I won't be seeing you anymore.
I won't be your whore.
You have a baby on the way.
And I'm sure you'll make an honest woman out of Sallie one day.
Goodbye Jake."
Jacob wanted to explain himself,
But knew it was best to just let Mary Sue go.
But he needed to fix this Sallie problem before Rue would ever know.
But he knew this town far too well.
No doubt the rumor mill was already about to spread from the hotel.
The men in the bar were already laughing at him.
How the hell had she found him again?
He exhaled a deep breath,
And looked to see if Mary Sue had left,
Any whiskey in the glass.
He needed to steady his nerves,
Quiet the ghosts of his past.
