On the Road with Muffin – (Bishop DoRito)

My goodbyes have all been said,

Bags all packed.

Headed to Busted Gulch,

Without looking back.

I purchased a mule named Muffin.

I took it as a sign.

He's stout and a bit ornery,

I think we'll get along just fine.

Muffin and I set out,

On our way to our new hometown.

If nothing holds us up,

We should make it before sundown.

The day is warm and beautiful,

Butterflies flitting about.

The summer has been kind to the land,

Evidenced by the flowered sprouts.

I'm looking forward to fishing,

And of course, Mrs. Order's sweets,

Helping Sister Mary with the children,

And maybe some preaching in the streets.

Many that live in tent city,

Sure could use a helping hand.

Maybe we can build some houses,

Wouldn't that be just grand?

The Lord has given me a new path,

A whole new life is set before me.

What will come tomorrow...

I'll just have to wait and see.
