Stars

Stars are beautiful,
U've heard that before.
Their light traveled an eternity,
To see you in whole.
Those glittering skies,
Are emptier than you know,
The memories of galaxies,
Echoing in the fore.
They, our mothers, fathers and forebears.
They from whom us became.
We are the stars, looking at themselves,
Their light once ours, seeking our souls.

What is life,
But to fade.
Why is life,
If we are to fade.
What lies beyond,
That great fate,
To fade into,
The starlit maze.
Nothing: say the stars,
Who burn for none,
We live for ourselves,
We live to run.
To play and breathe,
And see the world,
A universe given thought,
A universe that is one.

And once we fade,
The last man gone,
None shall remember,
Any of our wrongs.
The stars will burn,
But bright they won't be,
For they will never again,
Shine on thee.
